Dear Woodburn Families,
It was so much fun celebrating our office staff this week. Each member of this team has gone above and beyond this year to support Woodburn. They are such an integral part of our school and we are grateful for all that they do to care for our students, staff, and families. Please join us in recognizing and showing appreciation for this amazing team!
We hope you enjoy the weekend and look forward to another great week of learning.
Together we grow,
Katy and Bridget

We are already working on our plans for the 2021-2022 school year! Class placements are an essential component of learning and building community. If you have information that you would like us to consider as we determine placements, please share your input by answering a few questions on the form shared below. We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please do not request specific teachers, as this does not take into account the many variables we must take into consideration. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral information.
Completion of this form is optional. If you would like to provide input, you may use the online form shared below; print, complete and email to Katy Richman (kjrichman@fcps.edu); or submit a hard copy to the office. All forms are due by May 21, 2021. This is a hard deadline. Please know that input from forms turned in over the summer are difficult to honor since the grouping process has already started.

Woodburn Yearbook
This year is definitely one for the books – the Woodburn 2020-21 Yearbook that is!
Be a part of this most unique year by sharing a picture or two of your child virtual learning during this school year for our Woodburn Elementary Yearbook!
This will be a ‘virtual’ yearbook to be shared with all students. We’d love to see your kids learning virtually, participating in activities online, or how they took breaks in between.
Family members should get into the pictures too! We couldn’t have done this without your help and support.
Please submit your photos here - https://woodburnes.fcps.edu/node/4844
The deadline for picture submission is May 14th ~ don’t delay!
Thank you!

Grades 3-6 Student Devices
With SOL’s quickly approaching it is important that students continue to use school issued devices. We strongly encourage students to bring their school issued device daily. Students will be required to use a school device when accessing the testing application.
We will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at the beginning of May! We are requesting gift card donations that we can raffle off to staff throughout the week. Gift cards in $5 and $10 increments are welcome and appreciated. Donations can be dropped off in the main office. Please leave your name on any donations so we can be sure to thank you. Reach out to Katy Richman at kjrichman@fcps.edu with any questions. Thank you in advance for helping us celebrate our teachers and staff.

Come volunteer at Woodburn on Earth Day weekend! Saturday, April 24th, from 9:30 to 12:00, we will clean up the gardens, paint a four square, create a rock garden, and weed the front of the school. Volunteers will need to wear masks and we plan to limit the number of volunteers, so please email marykcunningham@gmail.com to let us know you would like to volunteer. The event will be rescheduled if there is rain. |
Sidewalk Chalk Decorators for Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3 - 7. The PTA is looking for volunteers on Saturday, May 1st from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to help create a sidewalk chalk art display outside, in front of Woodburn in advance of Teacher Appreciation Week. We'll provide the chalk; we just need people who are willing to help decorate and shout-out every Woodburn teacher. The more the merrier--parents and kids welcome. Please email Ashley.e.maines@gmail.com if you are interested in joining in on the fun!
