Happy First Graders Lining Up at Recess Today
Principal Message
Tiger Families,
It is so hard to believe that we are making plans for the end of the year and for next year already. The beginning of May is always Staff Appreciation Week in schools. If there were ever a year to participate or contribute to our Staff Appreciation Week (sponsored by our PTO and administration), this is that year! Please be on the lookout for messages from the PTO about how you can show our amazing school staff how thankful and grateful we are for them. You are also welcome find your own ways to thank your child’s teacher and/or other staff at school who have been heroic this year.
As we look toward next year and the planning that is necessary, we ask that you complete and return the Student’s Intention for the Next School Year form by Friday, May 21, 2021.
Finally we want to reflect and learn from this year. We would love to hear your thoughts on the topic of Terraset Together, specifically our connections with families. See #TerrasetTogether section below to answer one question that will help us improve our efforts as a school community.
Together and with continued grace and compassion,
Lindsay Trout, Principal
David Ickowski, Assistant Principal
#TerrasetTogether
One of our school goals this year was to improve our family connections. We hoped to find opportunities throughout the year to engage with our community.
Please help us by answering a ONE-QUESTION survey so we can understand how we did this year and identify our areas for growth.

Eating Disorder Parent Information
Eating disorders are serious but treatable mental and physical illnesses that can affect people of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, body shapes, and weights. While no one knows for sure what causes eating disorders, a growing consensus suggests that it is a range of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors. Eating disorders are not fads or phases, and can have serious consequences for health, productivity, and relationships.
Eating disorders can develop or re-emerge at any age. Eating disorder specialists are reporting an increase in the diagnosis of children, some as young as five or six. Many eating disorder sufferers report that their thoughts and behaviors started much earlier than anyone realized, sometimes even in early childhood. Although most people report the onset of their eating disorder in their teens and young adulthood, there is some evidence that people are being diagnosed at younger ages.
In collaboration with the Fairfax County Health Department, FCPS has developed eating disorder documents with detailed information to be provided to parents and guardians of Fairfax County Public Schools. The letter and fact sheet have been translated and posted on the following webpage: http://fcpsnet.fcps.edu/ssse/translations/dss-healthmedical.htm.
