Thank You!
A big THANK YOU, to our Irving staff and students as well as the FCPS Facilities team who ensured our major leak was stopped, repaired, and all cleaned up in about an hour this morning. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and willingness to help today. Special shout out to our Custodians, Leadership Team, and School Counselors who jumped in with wet vacs, towels, and trash cans so we could continue with classes today. Further proof of how amazing our staff is! Pictured below left to right - Officer Lee (School Resource Officer), Ms. Gollinger (Director of Student Services), and Mr. Buchanan (School Counselor) all running wet vac machines and Mr. Spear (Assistant Principal) using towels to soak up some of the water that had run through to the first floor.

WSHS Girls Basketball Camp
West Springfield has just announced its Girls Basketball camp dates: July 26 thru July 30th, for rising 3rd thru 9th graders. For more information contact Coach Gibson at: wrgibson@fcps.edu
Library News
The next Curbside Pick-up date will be April 19th, from noon until 3 pm.
In-person students should be returning books to the library on the days they are in the school building. Virtual students, plan to return ANY overdue library books if you come to school for SOL testing.
If you need some more reading material at any time, remember that students can always log into Mackinvia.com to borrow ebooks or audiobooks.
Tech Tips
Preparing for SOLs
Please make sure your child’s school loaned laptop is working properly: the screen is intact (not cracked), and all keys are working. If your child’s school loaned laptop needs to be repaired, please contact our Technology Specialist, Steve Snow at smsnow@fcps.edu as soon as possible. Students may not use their personal devices to take a SOL exam. We will have laptops for students to use each day of testing if they did not check out a school laptop.
In-Person Technology Reminders: Bring your school-issued laptop. We cannot support or troubleshoot personal devices.
- Please shutdown and plug-in the laptop each night so that it is fully charged for the school day.
- Bring the laptop, laptop charger and headphones or earbuds to school each in-person day.
Digital Resource Parent Permission: Action Item
We are almost there!! Thanks to the many parents/guardians who have already given permission for their child to use digital resources at Irving. It is imperative that we have consent for all students. Spirit Wear!
If you ordered a mask - they are all currently at Irving. PTA and school personnel are working on the distribution process to get to virtual learners. For in-person students, the masks will be distributed through a class at school. Be on the lookout for info in your email.
Next year's PTA needs you!
At the April PTA meeting, the PTA announced the 3 current board members as nominees for President (Taunia Schulke), Secretary (Kathrin Yoneoka), and Treasurer (Katherine McClure). We are still looking for nominations for the VP position!! Nominations can still be submitted for any position!!
Please submit any by May 10th! to irvingptanomcommittee@gmail.com.The current Board positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
