West Potomac Weekly News

Hello Wolverine Community,

Thank you to everyone’s patience as we review in person requests to move from 2 to 4 days.  It has been a time intensive process that we will continue to work through.  This morning the first 252 requests of the 324 requests submitted so far, received notification that they can begin 4 days next week if they can provide their own transportation.  We hope transportation will be available for these students beginning the following week. We have also welcomed back to 4 days another 108 students for additional supports.

This week, students (and their parents) who are eligible for an end of course SOL test received a notice via email outlining the tests they are eligible to take and the process to notify us if they are choosing to refuse or defer their SOL this year.  Please remember that SOL graduation requirements have not been waived.  So, if a student needs the SOL for graduation and choses to defer or refuse their test this year, they will need to test in a new SOL class next year or take their SOL for this year’s class next year.  We realize there is a lot of information around testing.  Please read all the resources included in the testing notice.   We also developed these slides to help understand May SOL Testing information.  Those who received testing notices must notify us by Thursday April 22 via the google form in the testing notice if they plan to refuse or defer their SOL test.  This is because we must submit transportation needs for SOL testing by Friday April 23.

A complete calendar of end of year testing to include SOL, AP, and Final exams is now published on our West Potomac website.  You can find it on our West Potomac website via this link. We will be taking SOLs on May 13 (Science SOLs), May 17 (Reading SOLs), and May 19 (Math SOLs).  As a result, only those testing will report to school on those days.  School will be asynchronous on those days for students who are not taking an SOL.  Again, please reference your testing notice this week to determine if you are eligible for an SOL on any of these days.

Wishing everyone a grade weekend.
