1.  From the Principal's Desk

Dear Members of the CHS Community:

We have a lot of updates this week so I’m going to keep my message short. Good luck to our Varsity Football team tonight at 7PM as they take on James Madison High School for the regional championship (watch on YouTube:  Warhawk Nation) and Varsity Cheerleading in States tomorrow.

Go Chargers!

Scott Poole

2.  Chantilly HS Senior Prom (hosted by the Class of 2022)

We are so excited to host a prom for our seniors on Saturday May 1, 2021

Each senior may purchase a maximum of 2 tickets.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through myschoolbucks (we will send link out next week).  Once the ticket is purchased, you can select your time slot to attend.  Time slots will be 5:30-7:00pm (so you can go to dinner afterwards!); 7:30-9:00pm (same thing… dinner hour is just getting started at 9 in Barcelona!) and then 9:30-11:00pm (pre-dance dinner).

If you are purchasing a ticket for a non-senior or a non-CHS student, you will have to enter that info in a google form which is linked in myschool bucks.  Current CHS Seniors will be prioritized should there be an issue with numbers

We will have dancing under the lights in our beautiful tent, photo ops with some amazing backdrops, individually wrapped snacks, and some surprise activities to make it a fun and classy “knight” to remember! Masks and frequent sanitizing will be required throughout the duration of the event and numbers will be limited to remain in compliance with the Governor’s orders.  If you have questions, please contact class of 2022 administrator Amy Parmentier at agparmentier@fcps.edu

3.  Staff Appreciation Week

The last week in April is Staff Appreciation week.  The PTSA would LOVE to honor as many staff members as possible.  The PTSA is sending out a survey to all students asking them to select who has impacted them the most while at Chantilly (one vote per student).  This is where the CHS family comes in!  For every gift that is donated, a staff member will receive a prize.  Please sign up for what gift(s) you would be willing to donate as one of the prizes to a worthy CHS Staff member.  The more prizes we collect, the more staff we can honor.  Creativeness is encouraged!  There are around 400 Staff at Chantilly High School, let's show them that we care.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094aada92caa8-staff1

Please drop off donation(s) at the front office on Thursday 4/22 or Tuesday 4/27.

The PTSA is also offering lunch to all staff members.

4. The Purple Tide

From Chantilly’s news magazine, the latest posts showcase our SNO award-winning article on World Autism Awareness Day and celebrating neurodivergence. Discover how some of our Chargers have turned their hobbies into small businesses. Also, be sure to read about how the cheer team adapts to new changes in the season.

Books will arrive during testing and it is far easier to get on the buyers list before delivery and distribution. Go to www.yearbookordercenter.com to order, and if you are unsure if you already have one, shoot an email to mkdownes@fcps.edu. She will respond ASAP.

6. Spirit Nights at Chick-fil-A

7.  Upcoming YA Author Visit

On April 21st , The Fairfax County Public Library will host debut author Kate Doughty (who is also a local author and a recent college grad) who will be talking about her new thriller The Follower, perfect for teens who enjoy reading thrillers like One of Us is Lying and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. You can find event details and register here. We’re also taking questions from teens to ask Kate live during the event via a survey (which is linked in the event description).

9.  Recent Student Successes

This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students.  I meet with recognized students each week (virtually) to congratulate them.
