Updated Return to School 4 Days Information

Dear Westbriar Families,

This important message serves to provide an update to the return to 4 days a week In-Person instruction.  This message is directed to parents of students, who are currently receiving In Person instruction

In an ever-changing landscape with having school during a pandemic, I am pleased to let you know that with creative and alternate ways to use existing furniture, additional furniture, and classroom layout, we are excited to welcome all of our current in-person students, who are currently attending school for two days a week, the ability to return to school for four days in person effective April 27th.

Last Friday, families were sent invitations for their children to return to school 4 days a week, those families will continue with their child’s start date of April 20th.  This update is for additional families who want to send their children back to school 4 days a week.  Please note the that there are two different start dates for our community.  If you received an invitation from me last Friday, your child’s 4 days of In-Person will start April 20th.  The rest of our In-Person families can send their child back to school 4 days a week starting April 27th.

We are assuming that all two-day students who did not receive an invitation from me will return to school four days a week starting April 27th. If you have concerns or issues with four days of attendance, please complete the google form link: https://forms.gle/ZoD4qEAUZDK11F3VA

We have spent the past few days reviewing classroom spaces, lunch spaces, and overall grade level numbers to determine how we can safely return to four days given the new CDC guidelines of 3 feet in the classroom.  Since we must maintain 6 feet when eating breakfast, snack and at lunch times, students may eat outside (weather permitting) or assigned eating times in the classroom or other areas to maintain the 6 feet unmasked guideline.

As we implement this plan, transportation is working frantically to ensure busing for students effective for April 20th and April 27th.  Students may now sit two to a seat. That said, we recognize there will be challenges. Given that many schools are returning in person, you should be prepared to possibly drive your child to school if there are issues.  We will be working with transportation this week with the expectation that we will have their full support.

We sincerely appreciate your continued patience as we work through the challenges in implementing this plan efficiently and safely for all our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Mary Tam, Principal
