Attendance Matters!
Attendance drives everything! It is tied to almost every aspect of school performance and future outcomes.
The top 5 Reasons students miss school are:
- Their work is not completed, or they have anxiety about their work load.
- They are not interested in school or bored by their classes or teachers.
- There are things going on with family at home or the family is not supportive of school.
- The student has physical health issues that prevent them from coming to school.
- The student has some mental health issues getting in the way (#1 issue: anxiety).
It’s important to communicate these and other needs to our Dean, SOSA, administrators, counselors, & clinicians.
Graduation Update
June 3 @ 9:00 am (Rain date-June 4 @ 9:00 am)
We are very excited to share that the Class of 2021 will be celebrated during an in-person graduation ceremony this year! FCHS will be hosting our in-person ceremony in the stadium at Fairfax HS. This venue was selected based on maximizing capacity (number of tickets available for each family), proximity, and the amount of parking. All graduation ceremonies will follow the Governor’s Orders for Graduation capacity and health and safety protocols.
Please stay tuned for more detailed plans.

AP Testing Updates for Spring 2021
With AP Testing looking a little different this year, we wanted to inform you of updated information about AP Testing this spring so that you can plan accordingly. Many of your students attended one of the information sessions that were held on Friday, March 12 (during Advisory) or on Tuesday, March 16th (after school). If you or your student would like to access the PowerPoint from the presentation, it can be found HERE. We will be updating the FCHS AP Webpage with additional information throughout the spring.
Please review the calendars that are posted on our webpage with the test dates and how they will be administered (digital or paper/pencil which is in school). Note that all World Language Exams and the Music Theory Exam will ONLY be offered in the paper/pencil format within the school building.
ALL AP STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THIS FORM BY MARCH 24th - FCHS AP Exam Schedule Acknowledgement Form (note that students must be logged into the fcpsschools.net accounts to access it)
- Students will use this form to opt out of taking an exam if they decide they no longer want to take it.
- Students will indicate if they would like to take the exam in the digital format instead of paper/pencil in the school building (reminder that the World Language and Music Theory exams cannot be taken digitally).
- Students can request to take digital test in the school building if their home environment is not conducive to testing. Completing this request does not guarantee that it will be approved.
If you paid for test and have decided not to take it and would like a refund, the deadline to request this is May 3rd and you must complete this form FCPS AP Exam Cancelation Refund Form (note that students must be logged into the fcpsschools.net accounts to access it)
If you have any questions or concerns regarding AP Testing, please feel free to contact the AP Testing Coordinators - Katherine Vargas (kvargas1@fcps.edu) and Kirsten Wiley (knwiley@fcps.edu) and/or the AP Coordinator Sorya Or (sor@fcps.edu).
