Did You Know…Synthetic cannabinoids are sometimes misleadingly called synthetic marijuana (or fake weed), and they are often marketed as safe, legal alternatives to that drug. In fact, they are not safe and may affect the brain much more powerfully than marijuana; their actual effects can be unpredictable and, in some cases, more dangerous or even life-threatening. For more information about synthetic marijuana visit NIDA.

Langley’s newly revamped and all virtual Career Connections is excited to announce a line-up that includes over 35 remarkable professionals!

This virtual event will be held Monday, April 12 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM via Blackboard Collaborate. Please encourage your student(s) to sign up via Schoology using access code: VF6S-QMJ3-QCK53. Just by signing up, they will be automatically be registered for a chance to win a gift card!

Drug Trends: Identifying Common Household Items and Drug Culture -- Apr 22

Click here to join a 12 pm or 7 pm session on the following dates:

The series is designed to help build awareness and arm parents with knowledge and tools to identify early signs of substance use, as well as discuss parents’ role in prevention and how to have effective conversations with teens about addiction. Ms. Rankin is a great resource for our students and parents. Questions? Contact her at Krankin@fcps.edu or 703-287-2744.

Seniors

According to FCPS, service hours should be uploaded into x2Vol by May 1, 2021.  Information on how to upload hours and applications for Seals can be found on the LHS website at Seniors, Class of 2021 Service Learning Information.

Please remember: Service learning is NOT mandatory in Fairfax County Public Schools so this process is not intended to add any last minute stress to our senior students.  But if students have the verified and approved hours, and want to apply for a Service Cord, Civic Seal, or STEM Seal, please see the LHS website for information.  Questions?  Please contact Betsy Shomaker at enshomaker@fcps.edu

Sophomores

Sophomore Treat Day is Monday, April 19th.  Treats will be handed out to Sophomores from 12:00-2:00 after they have completed their PSAT.  Those Sophomores that are not taking the PSAT can come to the school to pick up their treat during that time.  More details to follow.

The Tuesday, April 20th 9:30am Sophomore Class Parent Forum has been cancelled.

Langley's student-produced literary magazine, The Kaleidoscope has recently published it's first "print" issue of the year. Please take a look!
