Daily Health Screening

As we strive to keep Lees Corner as safe as possible, it is a good time to review the Health Screening Commitment Form. that was signed and submitted for in-person instruction. The document is an agreement to screen your child each morning for possible symptoms and to keep them home if any of the following symptoms are present:

Feeling feverish and/or having chills (if documented temperature/fever of 100.4F or greater)

  • A new cough not due to another health condition
  • Fatigue (more tired than usual)
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose
  • Headache
  • A new sore throat not due to another health condition
  • New chills not due to another health condition
  • New muscle pain not due to another health condition or that may have been caused by a specific activity such as physical exercise
  • New loss of taste or smell, new onset of poor appetite or poor feeding
  • Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

The commitment form is also available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Let’s work together to keep Lees Corner safe!

Book Fair Coming Soon!

bf

We are very excited to announce that we will have our LCES PTA Scholastic Book Fair in person! More information will be shared later this month.

Student Attendance

Teachers take attendance at 9:00 a.m. so your child should be logged in and ready for school by that time. If your child will be late or absent, please send a message to LeesCornerESAttendance@fcps.edu by 9:30 AM. Automated phone calls and emails are sent to anyone whose child’s absence is unverified after this time.

These are the attendance codes that are being used and their explanations:

Asynchronous - Teacher verifies student participation in learning via review of submitted work or reflection activity

Excused Absence - Examples: student illness; death in family; court appearance; difficulty logging in to online classes; temporary student or family hardship - See Regulation 2234

Excused Tardy - Student was not present at the start of the school day or class period when attendance was taken, but had a valid reason for being late

Prearranged Absence – Examples: college campus visits; family hardships, such as relocation; (not vacations) Must be reviewed in advance unless an emergency

Unexcused Local Absences - Student whereabouts are known or supported by parent but administration or local policy still deems the absence unexcused. Examples: student shopping with parent; student and family away for vacation with no plans to access class work; student participating in other non-school activity during school hours.

Unexcused tardy - Student was not present at the start of the school day for an unacceptable reason. Examples: overslept, running late, missed bus

Unverified - Student absent with no school contact by parent

Unexcused – Unverified absences are changed to this if a parent has not responded to automated emails and phone calls.
