Return to School Update

Yesterday, Dr. Braband shared more information regarding in-person learning, including the updated CDC guidance which will allow schools to transition from 6 feet to 3 feet social distancing during instruction between students, thereby possibly providing increased opportunities for in-person instruction.

We are committed to bringing back as many of our students in-person as our capacity allows, beginning with students identified by our school staff through the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) process. FCPS has trained our FCPS teachers and leaders in a process to be able to identify and provide students additional supports through the MTSS process. We have used this process to support students for many years to provide interventions and extensions for students.

You are welcome to view more information on the MTSS process in FCPS here.

As we confirm additional students in classrooms, we will also invite as many students as possible whose parents made a request for in-person instruction in February and March. We previously communicated with parents of children on a wait list that we would include them when space permitted. Based on a variety of factors, we cannot accommodate any additional in-person requests at this time. Once all our students identified through MTSS and as many students as possible from the wait-list are included, we will reach out to the parents of any students that can be included in-person 4 days per week.

We are not able to make classroom teacher, staffing, schedule, or building/room changes at this time. There is the continued requirement for students to eat breakfast, snack and lunch with 6-feet separation both indoors and outside. We also must continue to adhere to all of the CDC regulations and FCPS guidelines for furniture, cleaning, transportation, classroom setup and instructional schedules.

Please be patient as we work through the updated guidance to see if we are able to shift additional students to in-person or four-day instruction in the near future. Should our capacity guidance allow your child to return to school for two or four days each week, our school staff will reach out to you. Please know that we are working through these plans as quickly as possible and there are no actions you need to take at this time in order for your child to be considered. Thank you for your continued collaboration and support as we navigate this year together as a school community.

PTA Read-a-Thon

Read a Thon

The Lemon Road PTA sponsored Read-a-Thon will begin next Monday, April 12, and run for 2 weeks. Join the coffee on Friday to hear more about special nightly read-alouds and what sort of prizes will be available for the students. All funds raised will be used to purchase books for the school library as well as classroom libraries.  If you have not created your child’s account, please do so right away using this link.

FCPS Transportation Updates

As additional students are being brought into the schools, the FCPS transportation office will be making regular modifications to bus routes. Parents are asked to check ParentVue frequently to ensure that their child’s transportation information has not changed. These changes are centrally-determined and not communicated through the school. If you have not activated your ParentVue account, please reach out to Ms. Vaughn in the front office.
