Message from the Principal

Langley HS

Dear Langley Families,

As we begin spring vacation we want to encourage our families and students to disconnect from school and technology. While we realize some students may have a long-term assignment due after the break, or are working to make-up assignments, no work will be due the first two full days back to school.  We have also instructed that our teachers not give any major assessments the first two full days (April 6 and 7)  back to school. This follows our practice related to holidays and breaks from school.

We hope that everyone can relax, decompress, and disconnect from school technology.  We are hopeful that this will allow families to have meaningful time with their children over spring vacation.  Children and adults need breaks from the many demands of school life. A healthy balance is critical to everyone’s well-being.

If you make plans to travel, please consider the following information:

  • The Virginia Department of Health urges all Virginians to avoid non-essential travel, especially if you are at higher risk of serious COVID-19 or if you will be visiting someone at higher risk of serious COVID-19. This recommendation applies to everyone, even if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have fully recovered from COVID-19.
  • FCPS does not currently have travel restrictions. Students are not required to quarantine or provide COVID-19 test results for either domestic or international travel.
  • Upon returning, any student, staff or visitor demonstrating symptoms of illness is asked to stay home to help “Stop the Spread” of COVID-19.

Class of 2021 students and families will be excited to know that FCPS is planning to hold in-person graduation ceremonies this year. While our traditional venue, DAR Constitution Hall, is not an option, we are exploring alternative sites

The Governor made the announcement on March 17, stating that outdoor ceremonies are being permitted, with a limit of 5,000 people or 30 percent of the capacity of the venue, whichever is less; and indoor ceremonies are limited to 500 people or 30 percent of the venue’s capacity, whichever is less. Attendees will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing at the ceremonies. We will share event details with you in the next few weeks!

I hope that you all have a wonderful spring vacation!

Wishing you wellness,
