Cav Fall (Condensed) Varsity Sports Updates

Varsity Field Hockey

Varsity field hockey traveled to James Madison for the first of three games.  The Warhawks were on the scoreboard first with blistering speed.  Woodson’s character was evident with several goal area saves as it clawed back into the game.  Kelley Gross showed grit as the opposing attacker dodged others to be virtually one-on-one with the keeper.  There was a flurry of pressure on the Cavalier goal during which Kyleigh Poot made a goal-line save.  Zoe Hite was all determination with non-stop energy working from deep to collect the ball and feed those in more advanced positions.  Undeterred by the score line, Maddie Legum and Elizabeth Stribling continued to make attacking runs, but at full-time it was Madison’s night, 3-0.

In the next game, Woodson hosted the Lake Braddock Bruins and celebrated the class of 2021 including Mae Cooke, Gwyneth Durosko, Audrey Fisher, Maria Fruchterman, Kelley Gross, Zoe Hite, Allie Maahs, Makayla Mastal, Kyleigh Poot, and Katie Williams.  The great student presence was appreciated.  Hite assisted Genna Cooke’s goal.  Mastal provided strength on the right side of defense.  Durosko netted the Cavaliers’ second.  At full time, the game was a draw at two.  Through a flurry of attacks during extra time, Gross made two game changing saves.  The game continued into a shoot-out with Caitlin Deer in goal.  A valiant Cavalier effort, but the Bruins earned the final point, 3-2.

Woodson set the stage for the South County Stallions in its third contest.  Katie Williams notched the score board first.  Elizabeth Stribling was next.  Genna Cooke found Williams for Woodson’s third and a brace for Katie.  Levi Weinberger was a stand-out on the left side of defense.  Woodson was strong with great passing to the attackers, Julia Oleyar hustled causing the Stallions problems in the circle.  Woodson won, 3-0.

Varsity Golf

Google Chrome Sync

As part of FCPS’s ongoing effort to support student use of technology, Chrome Sync and the ability to save passwords is now available.  Students are not required to use Chrome Sync and save passwords, but may choose to do so in order to:

  • reduce their log-in time.
  • access bookmarks and extensions across devices.

Chrome will remember and offer saved passwords when students are logging into different instructional applications. Chrome will also make bookmarks and extensions available on any device in which the student logs into Chrome and turns on Sync.

If your student would like to use Chrome Sync and save passwords, support resources are available on the FCPS website.  If your child is logging into Chrome now, they may need to log out of Chrome and log back in to see the new features.
