A Message from Our Assistant Principals

It’s been an exciting week here at Sangster! On the same day we enthusiastically welcomed back our 3rd – 6th grade in-person students, Allison Jankovich was named the Region 4 Outstanding School-Based Leader! We are so incredibly proud of her dedication to the school community and her leadership during unchartered waters. We wish her luck moving forward as one of the five finalists for the district award.

It has brought us joy to observe our resilient teachers, students (both in-person and virtual), and staff as they’ve jumped into concurrent learning and continued to build classroom communities. We are amazed at the level of interactive and engaging lessons that are being done with students online and in class and the way our students are growing as communicators and critical and creative thinkers.

We are thrilled that next week all of our students will enjoy PTA sponsored virtual assemblies that focus on science while connecting with Positivity Project traits. Our K-3 grade teachers will share Nana Puddin’s "Gravity" production with their students throughout the week. This assembly, performed by award winning ventriloquist Dennis Lee, is an all-time favorite of Sangster students and teachers with its motivational content and engaging and humorous delivery. Our 4th through 6th graders will enjoy a live virtual assembly by Flow Circus entitled “The Science of Awesome" on the afternoon of Monday, March 22nd. Students will log in during their asynchronous school day to enjoy Flow Circus juggler and entertainer Paul Miller, as he integrates science content and the theme of resilience during his show. Students will receive information from their teacher about how and when to access the assemblies. Thank you so much to PTA for planning these wonderful events for our students!

As warmer spring weather approaches, we hope everyone is able to enjoy beautiful weather and the longer daylight hours.

Warmly,

Cindy Agner and Jennifer Redford
Assistant Principals

Arrival and Early Checkout Procedures and Kiss & Ride Information

To ensure the safety of our students and the community, please review these procedures for student arrival to and early checkout from school:

happy day
checkin table

Arrival
• The school day starts at 9:45AM.  Students must be in their classroom by 9:45AM, or they will be marked as tardy.
• Any student arriving after 9:45AM must be escorted by a parent into the glass foyer where they will need to sign in their student in using the pink check-in slip at the check-in cart.

Early Checkout
• When checking out a student, please be prepared to show a photo ID into the camera, complete a pink checkout slip in the glass foyer, and then return back outside the building. Your student will be brought outside to you.
• Students must be picked up no later than 3:25PM, in order to exit the Bus Loop by 3:30PM.

Reservation Drive: If you are choosing to park on Reservation Drive to walk your child to the building, please do not block any portion of a residential driveway.

Kiss & Ride

Thank you to parents and staff for a smooth week at Kiss & Ride. Please remind your child to continue to do the following:

•  At arrival and dismissal, exit/enter your car from the curb.
•  At arrival, have their mask on or in their hand.

If possible, please have your child practice buckling themselves in. We understand this may be a developmental skill, and please know we will continue to help, as needed.

Positivity Project

Week of March 14

Love of Learning

This week’s character strength is Love of Learning. Those with this strength enjoy learning simply for the sake of learning. They don’t need a prize or a high grade as a reward. Their reward is the process of doing the work and improving. People who love learning experience positive feelings in the process of acquiring skills, building on existing knowledge, or learning something completely new. Over time, individuals with this strength may develop deep and wide knowledge. Their knowledge enables them to make significant contributions to others’ understanding.

The site P2 For Families is available for connecting P2 to your home and you can learn more about the site here. Many of the slides are password protected and the password is P2 (case-sensitive).
