Eaglegram

Dear Clermont Families,

It has been invigorating to welcome students back into the building over the past several weeks. We are equally thrilled to work with our students at home who continue to participate in virtual learning. Our teachers and staff are working hard to ensure that we are all ONE community of learners, regardless of the space you are learning from! Thank you to all of our families for being flexible, patient, and supportive of our students and staff. Your encouraging words help motivate all of us. Together we are Virtually Unstoppable!

Sincerely,

Ms. Salata

Requests to Change from 100% Virtual to In-Person

As you know, we have been taking requests from parents to change their children from virtual to in-person school. Many of these requests have been approved and many still remain on our wait list. The ability to change is based on available safe space in classrooms. On March 26, Clermont ES, along with all schools in FCPS will no longer allow any changes from 100% virtual to in-person instruction. Also on March 26, students who have not yet appeared for in-person for their scheduled days of in-person instruction will lose their space in the class and be switched to the 100% virtual option. We will continue to approve parent requests to change from in-person to 100% virtual classes after March 26.

Calendar Reminder

As a reminder, Friday, March 26, is the last day of the third quarter. Students will be dismissed two hours early and attend their in-person or virtual classes as planned.

Spring break is March 29-April 2. Also, Monday, April 5, is a teacher workday and a holiday for students. Teachers will not be available for office hours and students are not expected to complete asynchronous assignments. See the complete 2020-21 school year calendar

Spring Break Plans?

Spring break is March 29 – April 2. Here are some safety tips to be aware of, especially if you are planning on traveling during Spring Break. Virginia Department of Health (VDH) urges all Virginians to avoid non-essential travel, especially if you are at higher risk of COVID-19 or if you will be visiting someone at higher risk of serious COVID-19 complications. This recommendation applies to everyone, even if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have fully recovered from COVID-19.

  • FCPS does not currently have travel restrictions.
  • Students are not required to quarantine or provide COVID-19 test results for either domestic or international travel. Parents may opt to keep their children at home for 14 days after they return from travel, however, it is not required.
  • Any student, staff or visitor demonstrating symptoms of illness is asked to stay home to help “Stop the Spread” of COVID-19.

Kiss & Ride Safety

If you are driving your child to/from Clermont, you must use the Kiss and Ride loop for everyone’s safety.

  • You should always remain in your car. Again, please stay in your vehicle.
  • If your child uses a booster seat, it should be on the passenger side of the car, if possible, so that Clermont staff can help your child exit/enter your vehicle.
  • At no time is it ever safe to park and walk your child through the parking lot traffic, the bus loop, or the Kiss & Ride loop. Children follow the example of adults, and other children may see you doing this with your child and think it is ok to walk through the moving cars as well.
  • The front loop of Clermont is for busses only during arrival and dismissal.
  • Please use the designated Kiss and Ride loop and avoid parking on Clermont Drive.
  • Please line up on the school side of Clemont Drive to minimize the impact on the flow of traffic going down Clermont Drive.
  • Remember: Safety First!

Meal Distribution During Spring Break

FCPS is committed to providing all students access to meals March 26 through April 5 when there is one early release school day, the week of spring break when schools are closed, and one teacher work day when students are not in school. Extra meal distribution begins March 22.  See the food distribution web page for more information.

Additionally, the United States Department of Agriculture announced this week that no-cost breakfast and lunch meals for all students have been extended through September 30.

Fairfax Meal Kits

Fairfax Meal Kits will be offered at several sites, containing seven (7) days of breakfast and lunch items packed in bulk, with some sites also serving afternoon snack and supper meals in the box.

Meal kits will be available for pick up every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or until supplies are exhausted.  Please watch for delayed opening or closure notices due to inclement weather.

All meals are available at no-cost to FCPS students and children eighteen (18) years of age and under. Parents/caregivers may pick up for children and adults may purchase kits for $28.00.

Please wear a mask when picking up the meal kits.

Military Connected Families

EFM/SLO Training "On the Front Lines"

PEATC, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education, is excited to offer this free training for EFM/SLO professionals that support military families who have students with disabilities.
This year, attendees will benefit from learning more about inclusive education, turning 18 in Virginia, and early childhood special education.
These self-paced trainings will be accessible anytime within the week that they are scheduled.

Both options have LIVE meetings at 12 PM on the Tuesday of that week.

For more information, contact PEATC at partners@peatc.org or 800-869-6782.

Technology Resources

FCPS has developed multiple resources that can help with basic technology issues to support learning at home.

  • If there is a problem with your Clermont issued laptop, you may enter a support request ticket via the Parent and Student IT Portal.
  • FCPS' Parent Technology Resource page includes tip sheets in multiple languages that provide answers to basic questions about FCPS technologies.
  • FCPS’ YouTube channel has videos on basic technology topics that highlight some of the key FCPS tools, such as Google and Blackboard. These videos are designed to provide solutions for quick, simple questions.
  • Broader inquiries about FCPS programs or resources for families may be directed to the Parent Resource Center at 703-204-3941, or use one of our eight Parent Information Phone Lines for information in multiple languages.
