The PTA sends virtual "high fives" to our whole CPES Community on this achievement! Whether your child has transitioned to hybrid, or is staying virtual... whether your teacher is staying virtual or transitioning back to the building, it's been a busy couple of weeks! We applaud all of you and are so proud to be on this journey with our CPES Community!
The PTA Hospitality/Appreciation Committee provided breakfast for Teachers in the building on Wednesday and Friday this week. And, those teachers who are staying virtual can watch their mail for a special surprise!

Now that the Read-A-Thon has wrapped up, it's time to tally those minutes! If you didn't keep a detailed list, it's fine to estimate! Don't forget, time reading in class, being read to by parents, and listening to audiobooks all counts! |
While the primary focus of the Read-A-Thon is to inspire reading, we also use your pledges to help fund book bucks and fun extras for our library! Pledge Forms and Reading Logs can be found on the PTA website.
Please turn in your Reading Logs and Pledge Forms by March 26th! Forms can be sent into school, dropped off at Library Checkout times, turned in electronically, or handed to a PTA representative by e-mailing us at: read-a-thon@cpes-pta.org
A fillable form can also be found in the Google Classroom Library, and paper copies are available at CPES Library Checkout times.

Thursday March 25th from 9am-6pm, grab a sweet treat from Nothing Bundt Cakes and they will donate 25% of the proceeds to our PTA!

It’s PTA Board Nomination Time! This year, we are primarily looking for people interested in our President-Elect and Vice President positions. If either look interesting to you, please reach out to our Nominations Committee for more information!

President-Elect
- This position automatically roles into the President position, so it’s really a 2-year commitment. The first year allows you to shadow the President and “learn the ropes”. The President-Elect attends PTA Board Meetings (4 per year) to help establish the goals and budget for the School Year, and supports the President with tasks as needed.
- In the second year, you get to set the tone! Once in the President role, this position leads the PTA Board Meetings (4 per year) as well as General Membership Meetings (7 per year), coordinates with Committee Chairs and Mrs. Le to facilitate special events, communicates PTA information to the community, and attends County level PTA Leadership meetings as desired (4 per year).
Vice President
- This is a one-year commitment, with the opportunity to run again for up to 3 years.
- The Vice President attends PTA Board Meetings (4 per year) and supports the leadership at General Membership Meeting and Events, as needed.
- If interested, the Vice President would have the opportunity to help our PTA better support and represent the range of amazing groups of families at our school, including, but not limited to: Spanish Speaking Family, Arabic Speaking Families, Families of Special Education Students, and Military/State Department Families.

In addition to the Amazon Smile and Harris Teeter programs, we also participate in the Box Tops for Education program. Box makes it easy, from scanning receipts with their phone app or simply forwarding your online shopping email receipts. Please see the details here.
Our PTA website includes sign up buttons for our Volunteer and Neighbors Helping Neighbors e-mail lists!
Have you tried to join our Neighbors Helping Neighbors group and had a problem getting through? We may have a glitch in our system. While we work it out, please e-mail Jennifer McCarry to request to join the group.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors is our e-mail group to recieve updates on needs within our community - things such as snacks for classrooms/school clinic, winter clothing, grocery gift cards and more.
As of February 3rd, Cunningham Park is a Meal Kit site.
Meal kits contain seven (7) days of breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner items packed in bulk.
Meal kits will be available for pick up every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or until supplies are exhausted.
All meals are available at no-cost to FCPS students and children eighteen (18) years of age and under. Parents/caregivers may pick up for children and adults may purchase kits for $28.00.

Esta semana, CPES dio la bienvenida a los estudiantes de grados superiores que regresan al edificio. ¡Los maestros y estudiantes de todos los grados se están adaptando a la próxima fase de nuestro año!
¡La PTA virtualmente choca los cinco con toda nuestra comunidad CPES por este logro! Ya sea que su hijo haya hecho la transición al modelo híbrido o se mantenga virtual ... ya sea que su maestro se mantenga virtual o regrese al edificio, ¡han sido un par de semanas ocupadas! ¡Los aplaudimos a todos y estamos muy orgullosos de estar en este viaje con nuestra Comunidad CPES!
El Comité de Agradecimiento y Hospitalidad de la PTA proporcionó desayuno para los maestros en el edificio los miércoles y viernes de esta semana. ¡Y aquellos profesores que se mantienen virtuales deben ver su correo para recibir una sorpresa especial!

Ahora que el Maratón de Lectura ha terminado, ¡es hora de contar esos minutos! Si no mantuvo una lista detallada, ¡está bien hacer una estimación! No se olvide, ¡el tiempo de lectura en clase, que los padres le lean y escuchar audiolibros, todo cuenta! |
Si bien el enfoque principal del Maratón de Lectura es inspirar la lectura, ¡también usamos sus promesas de donación para ayudar a financiar libros y extras divertidos para nuestra biblioteca! Los formularios de donaciones y los registros de lectura se pueden encontrar en el sitio web de la PTA.
¡Entregue sus registros de lectura y formularios de donaciones antes del 26 de marzo! Los formularios se pueden traer a la escuela, dejarlos en el horario de recogida de la biblioteca, entregarlos electrónicamente a la PTA enviándonos un correo electrónico a: read-a-thon@cpes-pta.org

Cambios en el sitio de comidas |
Los kits de comidas contendrán siete (7) días de desayuno, almuerzo, merienda y cena empaquetados a granel. Los kits de comida estarán disponibles para recoger todos los miércoles de 8:00 a.m. a 12:30 p.m. o hasta que se agoten los suministros.
Todas las comidas están disponibles sin costo para los estudiantes de FCPS y los niños menores de dieciocho (18) años. Los padres / cuidadores pueden recoger a los niños y los adultos pueden comprar los kits por $ 28.00.
