Bryant High School Parents, Guardians, and Students,
As we prepare for our third week back in school, I wanted to send some reminders and updates to our families and students. We were excited to return students to Bryant High School over the last two weeks for face-to-face instruction for all those students wanting to come back to the building. It was great to see students back in school and in classrooms for the first time this year! They have done a great job following all the new rules and procedures that are in place and we appreciate their commitment to keeping everyone healthy. As you know, students are currently assigned to two days a week for in-person attendance with the expectation that they are connected “virtually” on the other two days. “Mondays” continue to be an asynchronous day with students using the time to study, to complete assignments, and to prepare for the week ahead. However, students should be logging into their Learning Seminar Google form on Mondays to acknowledge that they are working independently on those days. This is a way for us to take attendance on Mondays when no students are in the building or taking classes.
We know that one of the most important factors for student success in school is daily attendance. If your child is signed up for in-person instruction, please do everything you can to ensure that he/she is coming during the days that they are assigned to the school. Please make sure that your student is logged in and participating virtually on their selected days, as well, knowing that some students are staying home full-time and attending classes through BBCU. However, we are allowing students to come to school four days a week if requested so please make sure you or your child reaches out to their counselor to request this change. As you would expect, there are some advantages to being in person so coming four days may be something your child would consider.
Also, remember that breakfast and lunch will be served to all students free of charge for the remainder of the year with all students being expected to remain on campus throughout the day and during our lunch block. We believe that it is important to the health and wellness of everyone in our building that students are remaining on campus where we can ensure that they are wearing masks, socially distancing, and limiting contact in the community during the school day. Please know that we are expecting the breakfast and lunch options to improve as the county transitions to providing both cold and hot meals to students in the next few weeks.
As mentioned in a previous communication, we want to make sure that all families who are sending their child to school have filled out the “Parent Health Screening Commitment Form” linked here https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/student-health-and-safety-guidance-document. That way, we can make sure that students are healthy when entering our school buses and school buildings. If you have any questions about this form, please reach out to your child’s counselor for help. Additionally, we are encouraging all students to bring a fillable water bottle to school so that they can refill their container throughout the day if needed and keep from having to drink from any of the water fountains that are accessible.
In closing, please continue to monitor your student’s health and stress the importance of wearing masks, socially distancing, and hand washing as we have all year. We look forward to seeing those students who reported the last two weeks again in the days ahead and hope to see everyone who has planned to return but still waiting to report. Mientras nos preparamos para nuestra tercera semana de regreso a la escuela, quería enviar algunos recordatorios y actualizaciones a nuestras familias y estudiantes. Estábamos emocionados de regresar a los estudiantes a Bryant High School durante las últimas dos semanas para recibir instrucción cara a cara para todos aquellos estudiantes que desean regresar al edificio. ¡Fue genial ver a los estudiantes de regreso en la escuela y en las aulas por primera vez este año! Han hecho un gran trabajo siguiendo todas las nuevas reglas y procedimientos que están en vigor y apreciamos su compromiso de mantener a todos saludables.
