Principal's Message - 3/13/21

Good Morning Parents and Families:

Today marks a year our lives were transformed due to Covid-19. Throughout that time, our community has been extremely responsive, supportive and understanding in spite of all the challenges. For that, I say thank you. Please know we will continue to work together as a school community as we complete the rest of this school year and prepare for next school year.

It was so wonderful to embark on the latest phase of navigating school in a pandemic as we welcomed back our in-person students the last two weeks. Our focus remains on ensuring ALL of our students, staff and families remain connected and supported. Please find a snapshot of our last two weeks as we have engaged in concurrent instruction.

Please continue to refer to our website for updated information as it relates to Return to School, events and other news.

Information from our Parent Town Halls can be found on our return to school RTS webpage.

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and healthy!

Meredith Norris, Principal

Attendance and Early Dismissal Reminders

  • If your child is scheduled to come to school in-person, but needs to attend online for any reason, please notify us through our Attendance Line through one of the following ways:
  • If your child is scheduled to come to school in-person, but attends school virtually AND you have not notified the attendance line, you will receive an automated call informing you that your child has been marked absent.
  • If this happens and you forgot to call, please call the above attendance line.
  •  For all students, virtual and in-person, please remember to call in your child’s absence.
  • If you plan on picking your child up early for an appointment, please send a note to the main office upon arrival (before 7:30am)
    • This way the main office can give your child a pass, so they are ready for dismissal at that time.
    • If you didn’t make a prior arrangement to pick up your child, please plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to pickup time so your child has time to gather their belongings and get to the main office for departure.
  • If you need to pick up your child at the end of the school day, please plan to do so before 1:45pm so as to not disrupt overall dismissal procedures.

Student Supplies

Please be sure your students are bringing their elective supply kits for FACS, Art and Engineering, when attending school in-person.  They will need these materials to support instruction in those classrooms.  These teachers don’t have extra supplies on hand.  Thank you for reminding your student.

Beacon of Hope

2021 School Social Work Week - March 7-13, 2021

“Beacon of Hope: School Social Workers – Lighting the Way” is our theme for School Social Work Week 2021.  School Social Workers are able to light the way, emphasizing the whole child, collaborating with other professionals, linking students and families with needed services, and advocating for our profession.  We want to recognize our outstanding School Social Worker that serves the Stone community, Mrs.Amy Young.  Thank you for all you do for our community, Amy.  You are beloved by all!

Principal Survey

You will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Additionally, the survey is used to assess my impact and effectiveness as principal. Understanding that this has been an unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.

The questionnaire was sent on Monday morning from FCPSSurvey@fcps.edu. Please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Reminders will be sent periodically to only those parents/guardians who have not complete the questionnaire.

Your opinions matter and I look forward to reviewing the feedback. If you have not received a survey link and wish to provide feedback, Please email FCPSSurvey@fcps.edu and Shelli Wayland will send you a link
