Letter from the Principal

Dear Spring Hill Family Community,

Welcome Back to School! We were so excited to see the smiling faces (under the masks!) of our students returning. The eyes were definitely smiling 😊

Our goal for each grade’s first week of Return to School is to create familiar routines surrounding student arrival, lunch-time procedures, mask breaks, and dismissal.  The Administration team and our support staff will implement these routines, so the students feel comfortable throughout their Return to School process.

Thus far, Return to School for Kindergarten, and this past week for first and second grade has been going extremely well.  Students and teachers are finally getting to know each other in-person, while maintaining a positive learning environment for our virtual concurrent students. Thank you for your patience as we work through best ways for teachers to enhance both in-person and virtual learning experiences.  As we continue to build a strong learning community, please note we are not able to accept changes to in-person learning, nor can we switch students’ learning days.

We are currently working through our arrival and dismissal procedures. It is important for families to choose one method for arrival and dismissal and use this method for the remainder of the year.

For parents using Kiss & Ride, please practice entering and exiting your vehicle with your child. To keep our staff and your children safe, it is of utmost importance that your child be able to exit and enter the vehicle independently. What does this mean? It means your child must be able to open and close the car door themselves. If you have a child lock on your vehicle, please note that you will need to disable it in order to use the Kiss & Ride.  Children must be able to open the door from the inside. Talk with your child about the importance of safety and explain to your child not to ever open the door until the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Staff are there to assist; however, we want to minimize staff contact with multiple vehicles. Following our safety procedures will keep everyone safe!

During arrival, we would like to implement One Stop Drop. This means if you have more than one child, they both should exit the vehicle when you stop to unload. This will make it safe for all in the Kiss & Ride line.

During Kiss and Ride dismissal, please display your child’s number on the passenger side front dash of your vehicle so staff can see easily see it in the Kiss and Ride line. Students will be waiting in our large pod for their number to be called by outdoor staff members as they see your car approach. Students will exit the building through door number 1 once their car number is called. Our goal is to load 1 to 4 cars at a time.

Whether your child arrives at school in the mornings by bus, Kiss and Ride, or as a walker, they MUST BE WEARING A MASK. Teachers will provide mask breaks throughout the day.

For parents who are driving, parking, and walking their children to school, please either park in the back of the school by entering the Kiss & Ride lane or across the street in the recreation center. Please do not park in either front parking lots. These lots are for staff parking.

Finally, and most importantly, if your child is sick, they should STAY HOME.  Do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms including fever, new or recent headache, sore throat, cough, or nausea.  For your child to return to school, you must complete and return the Permission to Return to School/Child Care Form and bring a doctor’s note which indicates that your child is well enough to return to school.  You do NOT need a negative COVID test, but you must complete the form and bring a note from the doctor.

I know this is a lot of information. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, please reach out to Mrs. Briggs, Mr. Casey, or me.

Thanks for being part of the Spring Hill ES community.  We are so thankful to have our Kindergarten through 2nd graders back in the building and we look forward to welcoming 3rd-6th graders next week!

Sincerely,

Mr. Rivera

March. 16 Group 7: Grades 3-6

We are finalizing class placements and attendance days for the students who will be attending in-person. Families have been contacted if their child will be switching teachers. The new classroom placements will not take effect until March 16th (Grades 3-6). Classroom teachers will be emailing families the days of attendance next week. New Kiss & Ride Procedures

We will be changing the way we are conducting our Kiss & Ride.  On the first day of students returning to school, Kiss & Ride students and parents will receive a number that is to be displayed on the right front dashboard of their car. The students will also receive  a matching number that will be placed on their jacket or backpack. This new system will allow us to safely call students to the Kiss & Ride Areas with social distancing in place. Please encourage your child to memorize their number.

At the end of the day, Kiss & Ride traffic will enter our Kiss & Ride area and pull up past door 11. When you arrive at the Kiss & Ride, please remain in vehicle while your child is called. It is important that your Child be able to enter the vehicle independently. Staff will be present to supervise students entering and exiting the building.

Master Schedule & Lunch Information

Our Master Schedule will continue to keep the same break and lunch schedule for both in-person and virtual learners. The Revised schedule (see attached) includes a handwashing schedule for before/after mask breaks, lunch, and recess. Students are allowed to bring their own lunch or participate in a free ‘grab & go’ breakfast and/or lunch. Here is the link to the menu: https://fcps.nutrislice.com/menu/spring-hill-elementary

Meals are also available for free for students who are not returning to school and are available to be picked up between 12:13-12:23pm in front of the school.

Health Screening Commitment Form Required Prior to Student Return to School Buildings

As many students return to in-person instruction, parents and caregivers will be asked to acknowledge a Health Screening Commitment form before their student(s) re-enter school buildings. This document confirms that a parent, caregiver, or guardian will complete a daily health screening and will keep their students home when they are ill.

The Health Commitment form can be submitted electronically through ParentVUE (PVUE) or via hard copy. Please contact your child’s school to have a hard copy sent to you.
