Churchill Chatter - Issue 29, March 7, 2021

Dear Churchill Families,

We have had a wonderful two weeks with our in-person kindergartners!  We continue to learn lessons and refine our practices when needed. We also are so impressed with how our virtual learners are adapting to concurrent instruction. Most importantly, our teachers are working hard to ensure the voices of all students (whether hybrid or 100% virtual) are included. The established relationships the class community has built will be key to our continued success going forward!

This coming week, we are very excited to welcome some of our first and second graders back in the building.  As more groups of students come back to the building, we will continue to review and revise our logistical and instructional strategies, as needed.  Please contact your child’s teacher, the front office, Ms. Niccolls, or myself with any lingering questions.  We want to support you in this transition as well.

Lastly, as I sit here today looking outside my window, I am reminded of the beautiful weather we are having right now.  We hope you and your family are able to spend time outdoors now that the weather is getting nicer. We love watching our community take walks together each day. Fresh air and sunshine can do wonders for the mind and spirit.

Wishing you a wonderful week.

Ms. Pierson and Ms. Niccolls

New Playground Installation Underway

Just a reminder that our brand new playground installation is scheduled to take place this month. For your safety, our playground and blacktop area will be inaccessible for community use while the playground is being installed. This work is slated to last approximately one month.

Principal Evaluation Survey - Begins this Week!

This spring all Churchill Road Elementary parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Understanding that this has been an unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback.

The questionnaire will be collected online between March 8 and March 19. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!

Thank you for your feedback!

Ms. Pierson

Make Up Yearbook Picture Day on April 12

THANK YOU to the more than 400 students and faculty who came for picture day despite the rainy weather!!

If you missed it, we will have a make-up day on April 12. Please sign up for a time to come to the school for your child to take their yearbook picture.

This will be a very quick process - students enter through the side cafeteria doors between the cafeteria and the front office, have a photo taken (quickly take their mask off) and be done.  Children will exit through the main cafeteria doors in the parking lot.

This will be THE LAST OPPORTUNITY for your student to have a yearbook pictures that conforms to the rest of the class pages and yearbook format.

Yearbooks will be going on sale shortly so please keep an eye out for forthcoming information.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Christie Stute at cstute@mac.com.

Thank you!
