TCES Library Updates

Library Updates

As we transition into a new season of school life where some students are returning to school for hybrid learning, we wanted to provide you with a library program update.

For the rest of the 2020-2021 school year, students will not be entering the physical school library to select books to check out from the library shelves as we try to keep everyone as safe as possible.  Even though students will not be physically setting foot in the library, Ms. Petruzzellis, our librarian, will continue to provide library instruction through story read alouds, lessons, and book recommendations on the morning news.

Library To Go

We will continue to provide curbside library pickup services for families.  For your safety, books are quarantined for a week before being placed back in circulation.  Books can be requested as holds through Destiny Discover, and younger students (PreK through 1st graders) can request “mystery bags” of books chosen by the librarian.

It’s important to get all book requests in about a week prior to the scheduled pickup date to allow our librarian time to prepare all the books for the students. Email Ms. Petruzzellis at aepetruzzell@fcps.edu if you would like to begin participating in the mystery bag program or if your child needs assistance placing holds on Destiny Discover.

Upcoming Library Curbside Pickup Dates:

  • Monday, March 8
  • Monday, March 22

All curbside pickups will be in Kiss and Ride lane (by door 7) from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Mondays listed below.  Please note the time change, which will now be 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Please bring a piece of paper with your child’s first and last name to hold up.  Please wear a mask, stay in your car, and hold up your sign.  Books will be brought out to your car.   When receiving your books, we will collect any books you’re returning.
