Franklin MS Update - In Person Instruction Information

Franklin Families and Students,

Good Afternoon.

This message includes several important reminders for our 8th grade students who are retuning for In Person instruction this week. Don't hesitate to reach out to our main office with any questions.

Have a great day!

Morning Arrival and Student Drop-Off

  • The building will open at 7:15 AM. Kiss & Ride and Walking students should not arrive before this time.
  • On time arrival for students is no later than 7:25 AM. Instruction begins at 7:30 AM.
  • Please call the main office (703) 904-5100 if you need to drop a student off late or pick up early.
  • All students will have access to FREE breakfast and lunch each day, including items to accommodate dietary restrictions.  Please do not drop off lunches, water bottles or snacks.
  • Music teachers understand when students forget their instruments.  Please do not drop off forgotten instruments, as we cannot guarantee they will get to the student's class.

Attendance Reporting

  • Students should attend in-person on their assigned days.
  • If a student must attend virtually on an in-person day, a parent/guardian will be asked to verify that the student is attending online.
  • To report a change in attendance (i.e. appointment, sick, etc.), please contact Franklin MS through the Attendance Process:
  • Absence/Tardy Phone Line: (703) 904-5151
  • Absence/Tardy Email: FranklinMiddle.Attendance@fcps.edu
  • Report an absence online

Transportation Information

Parents of students who have selected in-person instruction are able to view their child's bus route assignment using the SIS ParentVue account. The image below will help you find the information in ParentVue. Earlier this month, the FCPS Transportation Team sent a notice to all families about their student’s route assignments. If you have not checked your student’s route assignment, please do so as soon as possible. If there is an issue with the route assignment, families are asked to call Area 3 Transportation at (703) 249-7000. It is suggested that students plan to arrive at their bus stop five minutes early in the morning. Franklin families can also contact our Main Office at (703) 904-5100 with any additional questions.

Student Medication

Parents and guardians of students who are returning to in-person learning need to bring medication to our Health Room. Our staff will be available to receive student medication Tuesday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. As a reminder, students may not carry medication during the school day. Please click here for information on School Health Services and a link to medication authorization forms. Please contact our School Health Aide, Donna Long, with any questions.

Chrome Sync

As part of FCPS’s ongoing effort to support student use of technology, Chrome Sync and the ability to save passwords will be available as an option starting on February 18th. Students are not required to use Chrome Sync and save passwords, but may choose to them in order to:

  • reduce their log-in time
  • access bookmarks and extensions across devices

Chrome will remember and offer saved passwords when students are logging into different instructional applications. Chrome will also make bookmarks and extensions available on any device in which the student logs into Chrome and turns on Sync.

If your student would like to use Chrome Sync and save passwords, support resources are available on the FCPS website. If your child is logging into Chrome now, they may need to log out of Chrome and log back in to see the new features.
