Read Across America: Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers

Books and stories provide access points for understanding ourselves and others.  Reading diverse books helps students walk in someone’s shoes or see themselves reflected in a book. Help celebrate Read Across America by participating in any of the days below! To access the links to the books, students will login with their fcps username (student ID#) and password.

  • Tuesday, Mar  2nd - Wear blue to celebrate and be proud of who you are like Faizah and Asiya in The Proudest Blue By Ibtihaj Muhammad
  • Wednesday, Mar 3rd - Eat your favorite food for lunch or dinner to celebrate like Bilal Cooks Daal  By Aisha Saeed or Fry Bread by Kevin Noble Maillard

  • Thursday, Mar 4th - Use your senses and write a poem to celebrate like Richard Wright in Seeing Into Tomorrow
  • Friday, Mar 5th - Read a story based on a person’s life to celebrate like about Milo Castro Zaldarriaga in Drum Dream Girl by Margarita Engle.

Virtual Career Day

This year we are bringing a virtual Career Day to Kings Park! We would love for our families to participate in this event.

Our Career Day will take place on Flipgrid, and participants will upload and short, 3-5 minute video sharing their career, interesting facts, experiences, and more. Feel free to dress in your work uniform and to even show some tools or props in your video (if possible). The Flipgrid link will be shared with students, staff and families, and well as with community members who choose to participate in our event. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session (date TBD). If you are interested in participating, please complete the following form. For more information, please contact our school counselor Fatima Samha at fsamha@fcps.edu.

Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us!

This spring all Kings Park ES parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism. Understanding that this has been an unusual year, the impacts of COVID-19 will be taken into consideration when reviewing the feedback. The questionnaire will be collected online between March 8 and March 19. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions and feedback matter!

Return to School Lunch Bunch Recording

Kings Park ES hosted a virtual lunch bunch on Friday to discuss FCPS's return to school. While classroom teachers are sharing details and plans that are classroom specific, we were excited to share about KPES globally.

During this time we reinforced the latest updates from FCPS and shared some Kings Park ES specifics. If you were unable to join us, we have you covered! Please see this link to listen to our recorded presentation.

Kiss and Ride

As we begin to welcome students back to Kings Park ES and want to ensure the safe arrival and departure of each child. Kings Park ES has an established area called the Kiss & Ride, which is designed as a safe place for adults in private vehicles to load and unload children. With the cooperation of all drivers the Kiss and Ride is able to provide an efficient and safe transfer of children.

If you are interested in using Kiss and Ride to drop off or pick up your child, please review the attached document and complete the embedded form. Kiss and Ride tags will be mailed home in advance of students returning.
