1.Our Return to School Parent Information Sessions

The  FCPS School Board has made the decision to move forward with Dr. Braband's proposed schedule of returning students in the hybrid/concurrent learning model for those families who have requested in-person instruction in our Fairfax Villa parent survey.

In the coming weeks, we will be hosting a Return to School Parent session for families of each grade level.  These sessions are for all families, whether you have chosen online or in person, and will last approximately 45 minutes.  During these meetings, the administration and grade level teachers will be sharing information about in-person learning, mitigation strategies, and updates to schedules. We will also answer any questions families may have at the end of each session.  If you cannot attend the date and time listed below, we will be sending out a recording to all families connected with each grade level via eNotify.

Parents will receive an email  from the current teacher the day before the Parent Information Session that will provide details as to virtual or in-person placement.

There will be no direct instruction or morning meeting on these days. These days will be used as teacher preparation days as we continue to plan for the return to school.

If your child is coming to school in person on a day that they have art, they should bring their school provided art kit in the Ziploc bag.  This contains a sketchbook and watercolors, along with a pencil, scissors, glue, and crayons or colored pencils. If students never picked up their school provided art kit from the school, please contact Ms. Paramore (drparamore@fcps.edu).

5.Health Screening Commitment Form Required Prior to Student Return to School Buildings

As many students return to in-person instruction, parents and caregivers will be asked to acknowledge a Health Screening Commitment form before their student(s) re-enter school buildings. This document confirms that a parent, caregiver, or guardian will complete a daily health screening and will keep their students home when they are ill.

The Health Commitment form can be submitted electronically through ParentVUE (PVUE) or via hard copy. Please contact your child’s school to have a hard copy sent to you.

6.Video: FCPS Is Ready to Return

The School Board has given its support  and FCPS' health and safety plans are tested and in place for students to return to the classroom. Watch the video on Return to School.

7.Positivity Character Trait for March 1-5: ZEST/ENTHUSIASM

What does CHEERING OTHERS’ SUCCESS mean? Zest/Enthusiasm is the ability to bring life and excitement to different situations. It often leads to a higher level of involvement and engagement both for individuals and for groups. Those who demonstrate zest and enthusiasm bring an energy and level of intensity to individual and group work. These people are often identified as early leaders and innovators as a result of their outward excitement about a task or project.

WHY DOES IT MATTER? For individuals, zest and enthusiasm are easily identifiable and highly desirable personality traits. We feel good when we are energized by an activity or opportunity – and we like to spend time with people who are excited about life. Those who demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm are more likely to complete tasks and exceed minimum requirements as a result of their passion.

For groups, enthusiasm and zest can be directly tied to high levels of success, happiness, and achievement. Enthusiasm is contagious. One person’s enthusiasm can spark others to think, speak, and act with more energy and conviction. Groups that are enthusiastic about tasks are much more likely to spend longer periods of time in service to the group’s overall goals.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.’” -OPRAH WINFREY
