What's Happening at Mount Eagle

February 26, 2021

Reminders for this Friday & Next Monday

This Friday, March 5 is an early-release day. Instruction will end at 1:30pm. Teachers will have professional learning in the afternoon. Monday, March 8 is a teacher workday. There will be no morning meeting or attendance taken.

Reporting COVID Cases at School

Last week, we reported about a staff member that tested positive for COVID. It was our first time making such a report, and as we bring more staff and children back into the building, the likelihood of this happening again increases. Here are some important takeaways:

  • We are required to report when any person has tested positive for COVID and visited our school within the past 14 days. A communication goes out to the entire community when we learn about the case as well as when the contact tracing is finished.
  • We report this information to the Fairfax County Health Department who then begins contact tracing. They will reach out to the each person they determine to be at-risk of infection.
  • The Health Department and FCPS will work together to determine what, if any next steps, need to be taken with quarantines for individuals, classrooms or the school.
  • Staff at Mount Eagle are not authorized to share private information about anyone's COVID status.

If you have questions about our procedures, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you to everyone for sharing updates that help keep us all safe. We're all in this together.

Masks: What's okay?

All students who come to school must have masks that fit their face snugly. Please do not give your child an adult mask that is too big. Also, masks with valves are not allowed at school. If your child needs a replacement mask during the school day, we can provide one. Masks must be worn on all buses and throughout the day, except for eating.

FCPS Cares!

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond to help you and your family.
