The other days will be virtual instruction. School hours are 8:20 am - 2:50 pm.

Return to School Orientation

On Thursday February 25th and on Friday February 26th from 2:00pm-6:00pm we will be holding 20-25 minute guided tours through Justice High School.  Our goal is to show students the layout of the building, where their classes will take place and what they will need to know in order to make a safe and successful transition into the building.

This orientation is only for students that are returning in-person.  Please follow this link to request a time for your tour.

  • February 10 February 24: Applications for any remaining spaces open to seniors and juniors on a first-come, first-served basis
  • March 1: Parking passes mailed to juniors
  • March 2 or March 4: Parking passes available at Justice HS for any seniors who submitted an application during the 2/10 – 2/24 window

Please email Michelle Campiglia, Assistant Principal, at mrcampiglia@fcps.edu with any questions.

Lockers, and Laptops

We will not be using lockers this year.  Students will need to use a backpack for belongings, and they will need to bring their charged laptop, charger, and headphones each day.  Students should also bring a water bottle that can be refilled throughout the day.  In addition, students will not be changing their clothes for physical education class at this point.

Breakfast & Lunch for In-Person Students

Once we return to in-person instruction, breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided to students at no cost.  We want to make sure all families and students know some differences this year, including our health safety strategies.  Breakfast will be available when students first arrive in the cafeteria up to 8:15 am.

For both breakfast and lunch, students will see some changes.  For example, there will be a hand sanitizer station at the entrance of the cafeteria.  Students will clean their hands using this station or use their personal hand sanitizer before going through the lunch lines.  Students will also notice a different traffic pattern that supports the CDC mitigation strategies, including social distancing.  This includes markers on the floor showing students where to stand, keeping the six-foot distancing guidelines while waiting in food lines.  Students will also need to wear their masks in the cafeteria when not eating.

The cafeteria is serving cold pre-packaged meals. Use this link to view the planned menus.

Justice High School will host an online discussion with

Jamal Watson, Executive Producer of the new Netflix docu-series

Amend: The Fight For America

This online discussion will take place on Wednesday, February 24, from 10:45 am - 11:30 am

If you are interested in attending this online discussion with Jamal Watson, please complete the following Google Form: "Amend: The Fight for America" - Discussion  by 4:00 pm, Tuesday, February 23.  A BBCU link will be sent to you to join the event.

"Amend: The Fight for America" is a six-part series hosted by Will Smith focusing on the history of the 14th amendment.  The series includes interviews with legal scholars, historians, Hollywood personalities, and political leaders about the importance of the 14th amendment in providing “liberty and equal protection for all persons” and the continued fight for equality in the United States.  The docu-series premiered on Netflix on February 17 and is being billed as "a powerful, multimedia journey through American history that encourages viewers to question what a 'United States' really means."

Jamal Watson will discuss why this series was produced, how he and Will Smith got involved in this project, and the importance of the events covered in this film to our lives today.  Jamal is excited to speak to Justice High School students and faculty as our school is named in honor of two giants in the fight for equality, Justice Thurgood Marshall and student activist Barbara Rose Johns.  Jamal will also field questions about his career as a Hollywood television and film producer.  Here is Jamal's bio.

If you have a question regarding this event, email Eric Wolf Welch at ewelch@fcps.edu

Attendance is Essential

Strong attendance in school leads to strong academic success in school!  We want to see our Wolves in classes each day.  Here are some facts on attendance and the impacts it can have on student success and sense of belonging:

  • Attending classes regularly supports students staying on track for graduation.
  • Students who miss just two days each month have demonstrated significant academic struggle in their classes.
  • The more students attend school, the more opportunities they have to build their understanding of class material
  • Students who attend classes daily have an increased level of school connectedness

In this challenging year we’ve faced it has been even more important for students to stay connected to Justice HS. Please work with your child to ensure they are in classes on time daily and ready to learn.

If your child is absent, please notify the school by calling the automated attendance line at 703-824-3920 or for Spanish 703-824-8970 or send an email to JusticeHSAttendance@fcps.edu.

Please know that we are here to support you.

Senior Social Rescheduled

Our Socially Distant Senior Social has been rescheduled due to the weather.  The rescheduled date is Monday, February 22 from 1:30-2:30pm on the stadium field.  This event is for our senior students.  To help us properly setup the space for a socially distant event, each senior will receive an email about the event with a link to use to RSVP.  This event is solely for our seniors.  We will provide pre-packaged snacks during the event.  As a reminder, anyone on school grounds must wear a 2-layer (or greater) mask.  We look forward to this opportunity to see our Class of 2021!

IB Exam Update

On February 4, 2021 the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) announced changes to the May 2021 exams. This year's IB exams will have two options: 1) traditional examination route or; 2) non-examination route. Both routes allow students the opportunity to earn IB Certificates and Diploma, as well as potential college credit. School systems may offer only one option to all of their IB students.

Due to current local/national health and safety restrictions, FCPS will proceed with the second option, non-examination route. This means that students will submit Internal Assessments and IB coursework. This will allow for all students to earn their IB scores. There will be no indication on the certificates and transcripts of the awarding route which was used. Universities worldwide have honored the 2020 results and will honor the 2021 results as well. Thus, all IB students will be able to earn an IB score and receive college credit based upon their performance.
