Kindergarten Registration for 2021-2022

It is once again that time of year when we need to make Kindergarten enrollment projections for the 2021-2022 school year.

If you have a child who will be age 5 on or before September 30, 2021, then it is time to register your child for the 2021-2022 school year.  Children born after September 30, 2016 are ineligible to attend kindergarten.  The Code of Virginia does not allow exceptions for children born after this date.

To help us start registering for next year, please call Nancy Sawicki at
703-426-700 to add your child’s information to our incoming kindergarten list.

We request that you begin the registration process as soon as possible. Registration information and forms are available online at: https://www.fcps.edu/registration/kindergarten-registration.

If this does not apply to you, please share it with a neighbor whose child may be entering kindergarten. Thank you. We look forward to welcoming our new kindergartners and their families!

New Bell Schedule Began Today, Feb 16th

Kings Park ES's bell schedule has shifted to 9:00am- 3:30pm. Our new schedule will continue to include a schoolwide midday break for lunch and recess from 11:45am-12:45pm.

Teachers will communicate specific class and grade level schedules. Please note that as each grade level transitions to in-person learning there will be slight tweaks to the lunch and recess schedule to allow for social distancing.

Family Return to School Lunch Bunch

Kings Park ES is hosting a virtual lunch!  We are excited to begin the next phase of the school year; which includes in-person instruction. Grab your lunch or a latte and join us virtually on Friday, February 19th from 11:55am- 12:35pm.

While your classroom teacher will be sharing details and plans that are classroom specific we wanted a chance to share about KPES globally. During this time we will reinforce the latest updates from FCPS and share some Kings Park ES specifics. This session will be recorded for those who are unable to attend and will shared via our school website and our regular KIT on Tuesday, February 23rd.

Please complete this form to register and share any advanced wonderings. Registered participants will receive the link to access our meeting via email on February 19th at 8:00am. We hope you consider registering today!

Family Engagement Night Recording

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our parent event last week; Developing Independent Learners. If you were unable to attend the Feb 10th family engagement session, please contact your child's teacher for a link to their presentation.

Kiss and Ride

In the near future we will begin to welcome students back to Kings Park ES and want to ensure the safe arrival and departure of each child. Kings Park ES has an established area called the Kiss & Ride, which is designed as a safe place for adults in private vehicles to load and unload children. With the cooperation of all drivers the Kiss and Ride is able to provide an efficient and safe transfer of children.

If you are interested in using Kiss and Ride to drop off or pick up your child, please review the attached document and complete the embedded form. Kiss and Ride tags will be mailed home in advance of students returning.

Student Book Bag Distribution

Kings Park staff has been busy creating book bags for students to provide the opportunity to have access to more books to read from home. Curbside pickup will be available for grade levels at the following days and times;

2nd Grade: February 22nd: 10:00am – 11:30am and 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Regardless of grade level, families who were unable to pick up your child's book bags at an earlier date, you may come to Kings Park between 8:30am - 3:30pm to pick up Monday- Friday. When picking up your child's book bag, please use the buzzer at the front office. Please note that a face covering or mask is required when picking up materials or visiting KPES.
