President’s Day

Monday February 15th, 2021 is a holiday for both students and staff in honor of President’s Day. Enjoy the long weekend.

Eagle Scout

Please join me in congratulating Megan Staton who recently passed her Eagle Board  and was granted the title Eagle Scout. For her project, she refurbished the Westfield Lecture Hall. In this work, she repainted walls, added black and gold striping, and reframed and mounted class photos of all of our graduated classes. She did not do this work alone. As a leader, she led 23 adolescents and adults in this work which was done over 130 collective hours.

Megan is a senior and a founding member of Boy Scouts Troop 893G. She has served in leadership positions as a patrol leader and senior patrol leader.

REQUIREMENT OF PARENT/GUARDIAN COMMITMENT FORM

Parents or guardians who chose in-person learning for their child are required to complete a Parent/Guardian Health Screening Commitment form as students are phased back into in-person learning. This document indicates the parent or guardian’s agreement and commitment to completing a daily health screening prior to sending the student to school and also to keep ill students at home. The commitment form is available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.  Additional information is available at https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/student-health-and-safety-guidance-document.

Parents/guardians who have indicated that their child will attend in-school instruction will receive the commitment form electronically, or via hard copy, in their preferred correspondence language. Parents/guardians may choose to provide their response electronically or they may choose to return a hard copy form with their signature. When the form is returned in hard copy, staff will be required to manually update the receipt of this information in SIS on the Return to School tab and to file the original commitment form in the student’s health portion of the cumulative file.

Classroom Monitors

Fairfax County Public Schools is searching for individuals to serve as classroom monitors. School administrators will conduct virtual interviews with candidates at a virtual job fair for classroom monitors on Friday, February 12.

Individuals interested in becoming a part of a dynamic and diverse community are encouraged to register to attend one or both events. The Middle and High School Event is scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. and the Elementary School Event is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m.
