Message from the Principal

Langley HS

Greetings Saxons,

Another great week is the books in Saxon Country. As shared by Dr. Brabrand, high school students who have selected in person learning will return to school beginning March 2. Additional information, including our updated bell schedule, will be shared in the next week and I will be hosting town halls for students and parents. Also, at last evening’s school board meeting, the proposed Langley-McLean boundary proposal was approved. We look forward to welcoming 9th students from the designated neighborhoods to Langley.

Here are highlights from this week’s happenings in Saxon Country!

Congratulations to gymnastics on their 5th place finish in the region. Also, congratulations to Julia Stout for qualifying for states!

The FCPS Student Equity Ambassador Leaders program is supporting SAT Aces, which is a student-led initiative aimed at connecting lower income students to SAT preparation resources. The predominant goal of this project is to develop a website that compiles SAT prep resources in a single, accessible location. Interns are being sought to work as  part of the initiative.  Interns will be tasked with constructing the site and later raising awareness for it. This project will primarily deal with web development and social media marketing ; however, all skillsets are welcome. Interning for this project is an excellent opportunity for students to gain service hours and contribute to scholastic equity in the county.  Use this link to register.

Finally, this week is National School Counselors’ Week. I am so thankful for our amazing counselors. The work they do to support our students and families is so appreciated.
