Scottie Tales for the week of February 8

A Note From Your Principal

I hope you all kept that shovel handy because it looks like we have more winter weather heading our way. It was nice to get out and see the children playing in the snow this past week, it almost felt like a real winter.

There is a lot of return to school information below. Your Bonnie Brae staff is working hard to get everything ready for your students as we switch gears in the upcoming weeks. With all the transitions we will need to make Mrs. Bennink, Mrs. Woo and I will be hosting Principal Town Hall events for the returning grade levels over the course of the next three weeks. This will give us an opportunity to present the most relevant information to you, as well as an opportunity for us to answer those burning questions you still might have. Dates and times are as follows:

Grade level  Date  Time  Link
PreK / K February 16 7 pm - 8 pm Guest Link
Grades 1 & 2 March 2 7 pm - 8 pm Guest Link
Grade 3 - 6 March 9 7 pm - 8 pm Guest Link

With the return to in-person learning, we had to make some changes to your teacher assignments. Your teacher assignment and designated day of in-person learning (if you are choosing to send your student back in-person) will be coming home later this week.

As indicated in previous editions of the Scottie Tales, our bell schedule is changing starting February 16. With the bell change, a new master schedule had to be adopted in order to meet all the needs of our students with a shorter school day. Please take a few minutes to check out the Bonnie Brae website to find your grade level specific schedule.

Our next Bonnie Brae Gives Back event is scheduled to start week of February 15th. We will be running a food drive at Bonnie Brae to support those families in our community who are struggling with food for their pantry due to the pandemic. Please consider driving by the school and donating much needed items throughout the week. At the end of the week we will take the donated food to the Food for Others pantry located in Fairfax. Take a look below at items that are in critical need.

As always, we are going to come out stronger because of each other. Stay safe, take care of yourself and take care of each other.

Best,

Principal Skerker
