From the Healthy Minds Blog: Tips for Building Resilience in Children

Many parents want their children to have a life that is free from stress, worry, and struggle. It is only natural to wish the best for your children, but in reality, life is full of unpredictable challenges.

A big part of a parent’s job is teaching children how to face those challenges, navigate through them, and ultimately overcome them. This is a skill that children need to develop as they are growing up and inevitably make the transition into adulthood and out of their safety net.

In the latest Healthy Minds Blog, learn how to help your child build resiliency

This webinar will highlight:

  • What is social-emotional learning?
  • Strategies to use our children’s behavior and emotion as forms of communication.
  • Strategies to create emotional safety.

Protect Yourself and Slow the Spread of COVID-19

Your actions keep all of us healthy. We need to keep it up and continue working together to help slow the spread of COVID-19. There are simple steps you can take to protect yourself and your family. Testing, contact tracing, and staying home and away from others when sick or after contact with someone who is sick, are also critical to help “box in” COVID-19 and prevent it from spreading further in our community. Click here for more information.  Click here for COVID testing sites in Fairfax.

Click here to view the FCPS COVID dashboard for COVID-19 cases that have been self-reported to us. Data is updated weekly on Friday by 1 p.m. Any cases occurring after that time are reported for the following week.

This data should be interpreted with caution as it only reflects cases that have been shared with FCPS through self-reporting and may not be aligned to future epidemiological investigations. This data is currently being shared from a division level, as opposed to school or work site, so that it does not jeopardize sharing personally identifiable, confidential health information involving FCPS students and staff. Case reports indicate the total number of COVID-19 cases self-reported to principals, administrators, and program managers. Reports were shared with the Fairfax County Health Department to initiate contact tracing.

Effective November 2, the FCPS COVID-19 dashboard will be disaggregated and will present case data by school and case type (student, staff, visitor) and data will be updated daily.
