Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

It was wonderful to see so many students and families this week during our distribution days! Thank you for your flexibility with the date/time change in consideration of this week’s weather. As in many cases of northern Virginia weather, it proved not to be an issue, but better to be safe than sorry.  If you were not able to come, please arrange a time with the office to come by.

We want to again remind you of the updates Dr. Brabrand shared last week with the School Board.  Most notably, our new bell schedule of 9:00am - 3:30pm is scheduled to take effect on February 16th.  Teachers will send home an individualized schedule prior to this time, so your child will follow this schedule virtually until their group has phased in.

As part of the RTS efforts, some students will begin coming to school in Intervention cohorts beginning next week.  Our staff is excited to welcome these groups into the building. We are grateful for our staff who have mobilized so quickly after this timeline was shared last week to prepare for the return of these select students.  If your child was identified for one of these cohorts, we have communicated directly with you.

While the rest of these phase-in plans won’t be solidified until the Tuesday, February 2nd School Board work session at 1:30pm, please make note of your child’s proposed timeline, included below.  We will communicate with grade level parents directly after these dates are confirmed. Please look for eNotify messages with invitations to grade level specific Parent Coffees and surveys.  We will continue to keep you informed as soon as we have information.

Curbside Library Checkout

Stingers can now go to Destiny Discover, the library catalog, and put books on hold!

Please note that the catalog may give you a pop-up message saying the book is ready – do not believe it!  Only come to the school AFTER you receive an email from us letting you know the items are ready and what time you’ll be able to pick them up. Be sure to mark your calendar because after one week, the books will be returned to the library so other students may enjoy them.

Click here for directions on how to put books on hold.

Need to return books?  You may return library books on Mondays from 2:30-3:30PM and Thursdays from 3:45-4:30PM.  Drop off location will be in the Kiss-n-Ride loop in the back of the school. As always, please contact Mrs. Cole, our librarian, if you have any questions.
