Terra Centre Updates 1-22-21

Terra Centre Families,

Today marked the end of 2nd Quarter!  It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the school year.  Today is also the deadline to register for the PTA Spelling Bee.  Please see below for details.

Our student leaders have decided to do a “Dream Vacation” Spirit Day next Friday.  Check it out below!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 25th.  This is a teacher workday and student holiday.  Please see below for additional updates and information from our school and PTA.

Have a great weekend!

Bell Schedule

Because we are not transporting students to school during the pause in our return to school plan, we are continuing to use the current bell schedule.

However, with the draft plan shared with the school board yesterday, we are scheduled to start the new bell schedule when Groups 1 – 4 return on February 16.  Terra Centre’s Bell Schedule will be 9:00 – 3:30 for all students beginning on February 16.

Library to Go

LIBRARY PICK-UP UPDATES

The next pick-up and return date is Monday, February 1 (1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) in the Kiss & Ride Lane.

Please bring a piece of paper with your child’s first and last name to hold up.  Please wear a mask, stay in your car, and hold up your sign.  Books will be brought out to your car.   When receiving your books, we will collect any books you’re returning.

Mystery Bags

If you have been participating in the Mystery Bag program (mostly Kindergarteners), I will assume that you want to continue receiving the bags unless I hear from you otherwise via email.

If you haven’t received them in the past and want to join up for January, please email me.  1st graders can also sign up if it would be easier for me to pick a selection of books for them if they’re having trouble making requests online.

Library Schedule

Look forward to seeing you!

New Laptops for

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students

FCPS invested in new laptops for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.  5th Grade laptop check out and exchange is 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25th This is also a make-up day for any 3rd or 4th grade students who were not able to make it to their laptop exchange day on January 11th.  Please click here to sign up for a timeslot.  Distribution will be curbside in the Kiss & Ride lane.  This optional exchange is happening to replace currently checked out FCPS laptops with a new laptop for your student.

To help make this a quick and smooth process, please plan to wear a mask and hold up a paper with your child's name and grade level.  In order to complete an exchange, you must bring your student's currently checked out FCPS laptop AND charger if they have one.  If your 3rd-5th grade student does not already have a laptop checked out through FCPS, they can do so at this time.  Although your student does not necessarily need to be with you for the exchange, the new laptop must be logged in to using their username and password while still at the school for it to work.

If you have questions, please email Trea Bailey (jrbailey1@fcps.edu) and Chris Webster (cwebster@fcps.edu).

These wellness classes are focused on the adults in our community. We often give so much of ourselves that taking some time to reset and provide ourselves with some self-care is much needed.  We will be offering the following classes:

  • January 25
  • February 8
  • Guided Meditation...February 22

These classes are free, but we do ask that you register (so we can send you the link) and complete our participation waiver.
