Dear Whitman Community,

It is hard to believe but we are halfway through the 2020-2021 School Year.  The third quarter begins on Tuesday, January 26.  It is a good time to review your student’s progress and reach out to counselors and teachers, if necessary.

On Monday, January 25 at 4:30 PM, please join our PTSA for Family Trivia Night.  More information is below.

Thanks for all you do to support our students and have a great weekend!

MVHS Academic Advising

Greetings Rising 9th - 12th Grade Families,

Academic Advising season is here!  Our school counselors have begun meeting with students for grade level pre-advising lessons and we know that all families are eager to learn more about the course selection process and course options for next school year.  Academic Advising has four major components:

  1. Pre-Advising Grade Level Meetings:  Counselors will meet with students in groups for a quick overview of the process, graduation requirements for their class and introduce them to various elective options.
  2. Course Exploration:  Students with the support of their parents/guardians will explore courses for next school year.
    1. This year MVHS is developing a curriculum/elective fair website full of videos, resources and google sites that will help families explore their options.  The site will be made available to families the week of January 18th.
    2. MVHS will also host a virtual Curriculum Night on Tuesday, January 19th.  Interested families must RSVP by noon on Tuesday to receive links and important updates. Click here to  RSVP now.
  3. Course Selection:  This year, Mount Vernon HS will be using the online course request feature available in StudentVUE.  Once students have completed pre-advising with their school counselor, they may login to StudentVUE and begin to select courses by clicking on the “Course Request” tab.  This feature allows students to enter their courses prior to meeting with their school counselor, maximizing the time they have during individual academic advising.
  4. Counselor Meetings:  Each student will have the opportunity to meet individually with their school counselor to review course selections, graduation plans and to address any questions or concerns.

Please see the updated Academic Advising Timeline:
