Dear HMS Students and Families,
This is a friendly reminder that rising 9th grade students should be reviewing their core class selections and inputting their two elective choices and two alternative elective choices in their SIS account (no later than January 26). Herndon High School has pre-loaded all students’ core classes. If you would like to make a change to a projected class, please let your counselor (Azzara or Broady) know when you meet with her in your HPE class. Your counselor will then communicate this to the high school for you. The advising window for counselors to work with students in HPE is January 26 – February 18.

Learn about Fairfax Academy Courses at their Virtual Open House on Tuesday, February 2nd from 6:30-7:30 PM. You will meet and hear from academy teachers, support staff, and students. Please see attachment for more information. |

Attention 8th grade families! Are you interested in learning more about admission to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology? Updated information regarding the new TJHSST Freshman Application Process and Eligibility Requirements can now be found at www.tjadmissions.org. The Application Window will begin on February 1 at 8:00 am and close on February 26 at 4:00 pm. Please continue to check the website for additional updates/information. Second Semester Begins on Tuesday 1/26.
The last day of third quarter is Friday 1/22. During Fourth Period Advisory on 1/22, students will be guided through how to check their 2nd semester schedule in Student View and how to copy links to new second semester classes into their virtual planner. Second semester schedules will be available on Student View on Friday 1/22 by 6:00 AM.

 Herndon MS is excited to start using TalkingPoints as a platform for communicating with families. Parents/Guardians will receive TalkingPoints messages as SMS text messages. Text messages will be in English or automatically translated into the family's correspondence language. You can respond in English, or respond in another language and it will be translated into English for the school. Parents/Guardians do not need to do anything to enroll.
TalkingPoints is free! There’s no charge if you have an unlimited texting plan. If not, standard text messaging fees apply. If you don’t want to receive SMS text messages, you can download the free TalkingPoints for Parents Mobile App in the app store on iPhone or Android! You can unsubscribe at any time by texting GOODBYE.

HMS PTA invites your student to the "HMS Among Us Night" on Saturday Feb 13 from 7-8:30pm. (Don't know what Among Us is? Just ask your middle schooler!) Students will be sent the BBCU link in their school email.
