Our New Student Teacher
Ms. Witmer grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and is a 2020 graduate of James Madison University’s School of Theatre & Dance, where she majored in Dance Education and minored in Spanish. Throughout her collegiate experience, Ms. Witmer performed in 6 student dance concerts as well as 2 mainstage dance concerts, in addition to performing as a member of the Virginia Repertory Dance Company, JMU’s pre-professional traveling company. She was the choreographer of 2 studio theatre plays and won a research grant to develop a 30-minute interdisciplinary arts performance alongside another theatre artist. During the summer of 2018, Ms. Witmer was fortunate enough to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain, where she began learning the art of Flamenco dancing. Ms. Witmer has been teaching dance at her home studio since she was in high school and was a Co-Director for the Associate Ensemble her senior year of college, where she was delighted to teach and choreograph for the First Year Dance Majors each week. Ms. Witmer is thrilled to be able to continue her teaching journey as a student teacher at Bailey’s Upper, and cannot wait to get to know and dance with all of the students in Creative Movement class with Ms. Epstein!
