Principals' Message

Dear Freedom Hill Families,

We enter an important week for our nation with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day tomorrow and the inauguration of a new President on Wednesday. In addition, this Friday is the last day of our second quarter. As we continue to strive for a successful virtual year, our planning is also beginning for the 2021-22 school year. We are asking that all families complete this intention form (one per child) by January 31, 2021.

As you know, FCPS has put a pause on the draft schedule for students returning to in-person learning as well as the update bell schedule, though we do expect an update very soon. Having students and staff back in our building is something we are looking forward to greatly!

Wishing you a safe week and hoping that you and your family are able to celebrate and reflect on some of the week's meaningful events.

Nicholas Zapadka, Principal

Eric Kopacz, Asst. Principal

Positivity Project: Perseverance

p2

Hello, Freedom Hill Community! The Positivity Project would love your help with a project for the new year. We would love to hear from your kids about what the traits of the Positivity Project mean to them. Have your child write a sentence, phrase, or draw a picture of what one of the traits for the next month mean to them. Then, take their picture holding what they wrote or drew, and email them to Mrs. Canape at EACanape@fcps.edu . We will share it on News Show the week that that trait is being focused on in our school.

The traits for the month of January are:

January 3-9: Optimism

January 10-16: Prudence

January 17-23: Perseverance

January 24-30: Other People Matter: Supporting others when they struggle.

Thank you!

Mrs. Canape

This week we are studying perseverance. Perseverance means you complete what you start despite obstacles. You never give up. The concept of perseverance can most often be found in one’s active pursuit in overcoming obstacles. Perseverance is a uniquely human characteristic that identifies an individual’s ability to spend long periods of time devoted to a single goal or set of goals.
