Rising 9th Grade Academic Advising

Attention 8th grade families! This 'One Stop Shop of Everything You Need to Know' provides a timeline of events for academic advising, directions for how to access Herndon High School's course curriculum, how to register for classes, and additional scheduled presentations for students and families.

Rising 9th grade parents and guardians are invited to attend the HHS Parent Night hosted by HMS on Thursday, January 14th from 6:00-7:00. Parents and guardians may attend by using the BBCU Link. With any questions, please contact our Director of Student Services, Shirnesha Simpkins Church.


Updated Information Regarding the Week of January 18th

Now that FCPS has paused all in-person learning, the plan for the week of January 18 has changed. 

We had communicated that January 19th and January 21st would be Teacher Prep Days and asynchronous learning. 

This is changed.

2nd Semester School Supply Pick Up

HMS will be holding its next—targeted—Supply Distribution Event.

  • Who: Specific families still needing supplies
  • When: Monday Jan 25th and Monday Feb. 1
  • Time: 11am-2pm or 4:00pm-6pm
  • Location: HMS Bus Lane (behind the school at door #6)

The following classes have supplies set aside for those families invited to the event:

Free Meals and Fresh, Local Fruits and Vegetables Offered in January and February

Hello Parents and Caretakers,

The Office of Food and Nutrition Services will also be distributing fresh, local fruits and vegetables at the bulk meal kit sites throughout January and February. Families that pick up no-cost meals from these sites will also be provided a whole, fresh fruit or vegetable sourced from a local farm for each child, along with an activity sheet and recipe for that item. This item will vary each week, and will be available on the following dates:

  • 1/13
  • 1/19 (please note that distribution will be on Tuesday 1/19 as Wednesday 1/20 is a school holiday)
  • 1/27
  • 2/3
  • 2/10
  • 2/17

Opportunity for Student Community Service Hours- Food For Neighbors

On Monday, January 18, 2021, a National Day of Service in our country, please join Food For Neighbors as we work to raise awareness about teen hunger in our community and expand our program to help more students. We have many volunteer opportunities that you can participate in right from home. By working together, we will make a difference in the lives of local students and help end teen hunger.

2021 CTE SUMMER ENRICHMENT

CTE Summer Academy

What is CTE Summer Academy?

A weekly enrichment program that allows students to dive deeper into CTE program areas, and encourages skill development and career exploration.

Students choose 4 classes and learn new content, discover interests, and build their skills.

Details

Eligibility: Current 7 to 11 graders

Time - 8:30 am to 2:00 pm*

*Early drop off and After care are available!

Location - To Be Determined

Transportation is provided!

Cost - $275 per week

Dates -

Week 1: July 12 - 16

Week 2: July 19 - 23

Week 3: July 26 - 30

Class Options

Students will choose four (4) classes each week to build their own specialized summer learning program. Courses are available in the following CTE areas: Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health/Medical, Marketing, STEAM, and Trades.

Registration is open from February 1 to June 18, 2021.
