Important Information for Week of Jan. 11

Dear CRES families,

We are writing to make sure you received Dr. Brabrand’s January 6 message about the plan for in-person instruction. Current community transmission of COVID-19 in Fairfax County remains high. After discussing the plan with the School Board and hearing from many parents and staff, it was decided to pause the plan to bring students and staff back into school buildings. Dr. Brabrand will be providing the School Board an update on a new Return to School plan on February 2, 2021.

We wanted to keep everyone updated on a couple of key pieces of information:

In-Person Groups/Cohorts

All Groups/Cohorts of students are paused from a return to in-person learning until a revised Return to School plan and timeline is developed and approved.  Dr. Brabrand will be providing the School Board an update on a new Return to School plan on February 2, 2021.

Bell Schedule

The new CRES bell schedule will not begin on Tuesday, January 12th. We will remain on the same schedule we've been on all year until we begin to return in person.

Monday, January 11 Asynchronous

Monday will continue to be an asynchronous day for FCPS students. All grade levels will be asynchronous. Students will login to their homeroom Google Classroom to record attendance and will complete work asynchronously for the day. A small number of groups will continue to meet synchronously: Mrs. Grabel’s Third and Sixth Grade Level III groups, Mrs. Keller’s Fifth grade Singer’s Studio, Mrs. Keller’s Fourth and Fifth Grade Recorder Hangout, some small group intervention groups based on need. CRES staff have professional development scheduled for Monday, and this may also affect some other small groups that traditionally meet on Mondays.

Take care,

Mr. Junge and Mr. Soderstrom
