Principals' Message

Dear Freedom Hill Families,

I hope this finds you and your family safe and well after a very challenging week for our region and our nation. We know the events at the Capitol Building have impacted us all in different ways and we hope you and your child had a safe space to process those feelings if needed. As we enter into the last few weeks of second quarter, we will continue to do our very best to support our students and families during these difficult times. Please contact your child's teacher or counselor if we can provide additional support or resources.

We are bringing you the weekend update a day early to share updates about next week's schedule. As Superintendent Brabrand shared recently, in-person instruction and phase-in plans are currently paused. Community transmission of COVID-19 in Fairfax County remains high. Dr. Brabrand will provide an update on the Return to School plan to the School Board on Tuesday, February 2.

Because we will not be transporting students to school during the pause in our plan, we will not be moving to the new bell schedule on January 12. We will continue to use the current bell schedule and class schedule.

Monday, January 11 is an independent (asynchronous) learning day for students and a teacher preparation day. Morning meeting and asynchronous academics will be provided for students. There are two great reading opportunities available Monday - our Eagles Read! Bedtime Stories Night and a virtual guest author at the Thomas Jefferson Community Library. Please see below.

Wishing you a nice weekend and continued safety,

Nicholas Zapadka, Principal

Eric Kopacz, Asst. Principal
