Community transmission of COVID-19 in Fairfax County remains high.

Dr. Brabrand will  provide an update on the Return to School plan to the School Board on Tuesday, February 2.

Because we will not be transporting students to school during the pause in our plan, we will not be moving to the new bell schedule on Tuesday, January 12.

We will continue to use the current bell schedule and will communicate any future changes to the bell schedule in advance.

Monday, January 11 will remain an independent (asynchronous) learning day for students and teacher preparation day.

Once we have a date for students and staff to return for in person instruction in school buildings, we will need to provide preparation days for teachers. Students will be doing independent learning on teacher preparation days. We will communicate those dates once we confirm return to school dates in the future.

Parents/guardians wishing to opt their child out of FLE instruction may return the completed opt-out form either in hardcopy or attached to an email.  Parents/guardians may also send an email stating the lesson(s) they are opting out of. Should you opt your child out and then later decide you want your child included in FLE instruction, you must notify your child’s teacher in writing before instruction begins. SCA Box Tops

Dear Hunt Valley Families and Staff,

There is a new digital way to turn in your Box Tops. First, you will have to download the Box Top app to your phone. Next, you will have to fill in the information requested. Lastly, you will have to scan your receipt for the box tops near the barcode. Simple enough you are all done. Detailed instructions are attached here at this link:

You are still allowed to turn the Box Tops in person if you prefer.

We also want to thank our Hunt Valley community for all the mask donations.  We received 174 masks and are researching where we will donate them to.

Thank you for all your support.

FCPS COVID-19 Health Metrics Dashboard

The return to in-person instruction is currently determined by two core indicators as measured by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH): the number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 14 days and the percent positive test rate. FCPS has a public dashboard where you can see daily updates on these metrics as well as additional information on the specific thresholds that determine when each cohort may return to in-person instruction or when an in-person cohort may need to return to virtual instruction.

You can access the dashboard by clicking the COVID-19 Case Data button on the fcps.edu homepage or by following this link: https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/fcps-confirmed-covid-19-case-reporting

Reminder for Parents/Guardians about SIS ParentVUE

This year more than ever, SIS ParentVUE (PVUE) is an essential tool for parents/guardians to keep up with their student’s attendance, progress report cards, and more. This will be the first quarter that we have offered a PDF version of the progress report and ES parents/guardians now have the option to “Go Paperless” for all report cards and progress reports. We want to start establishing the PVUE habit early with ES school parents/guardians. At the end of last school year, we reached a high of 80% of FCPS students with at least one parent/guardian with a PVUE account. We want to keep those account numbers and the usage going up so we can rely on it as a communication tool with parents/guardians.

Please access PVUE periodically to check in on your student(s) attendance and to view progress reports at the end of each quarter.  If you have not yet created a PVUE account, please do so by reaching out to the school SIA to provide an activation code. Details on what can be found in PVUE and how to activate a new PVUE account using your activation code can be found here - Student Information System - SIS Parent Account Overview

Tech Support for Parents and Students

To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, FCPS has launched a new Parent Technology Help Desk. The help desk can be reached at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS) and will be answered by staff members between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week.

Parents or guardians can call this number for basic tech support with parent accounts, help with FCPS student devices and technical assistance with other FCPS applications. If help desk staff members are unable to solve the issue, they will enter a support ticket on behalf of the parent/guardian to escalate the issue to the appropriate FCPS team. Parents who need help in a language other than English can inform the help desk staff when they call of their preferred language, and an interpreter will join in on the call.

FCPS has also set up Parent and Student Technology Support portal at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/ to allow older students and parents/guardians to request technology help directly. When a support request ticket is entered through the portal, it is auto-routed to the TSSpec at the appropriate site to expedite service.
