Happy New Year!

A Note From Your Principal

While many are happy to say goodbye to 2020, I ask that you take time to reflect on the many successes from the first half of this school year. As parents and guardians, you have successfully managed to support your child(ren)’s learning from home. Our children have mastered online content and are conquering the digital world. Our teachers mastered new instructional models while maintaining the crucially important relationships with their students. Yes, 2020 was not what anyone imagined, nor a year anyone will soon forget. However, for all these reasons, and many more, I am so very proud. We are hopeful for the future and are gearing up for a great 2021 and second semester.

As we transition back to in-person learning, a bell schedule change is needed to ensure students are socially distanced and buses are cleaned following Fairfax County Health Department guidelines. Bonnie Brae's new bell schedule will be 9:00 AM -3:30 PM. These new hours of operation will be in effect starting January 12. These hours are a change from the previous released bell schedule change and are the most up-to-date information we have at this time. The new bell schedule will go into effect regardless of the school board's decision on returning to in-person learning or staying virtual. The next school board meeting is scheduled to take place Tuesday, January 5. Please be on the lookout for more details concerning the return to in-person learning for our students in the days to come.

We have two weeks left in the second quarter, then students have a few days off (see below) after which we gear up for a great third quarter. Parents remember, you can request a conference at any time and checking in with your student's teacher is always a good idea!

We hope you enjoyed the Winter Break and had some restful, relaxing family time!

Thank you all for your continued support. We are a strong community and we will continue to get through this together.
