Principals' Message

Good morning Freedom Hill Community,

From all of us "on the Hill", wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year and start to 2021. We hope this newsletter finds everyone safe after the holiday break!

Our Positivity Project trait of study this week is optimism. It is in this spirit that we enter a new calendar year with our students and community. We are optimistic and hopeful that the pandemic will begin to subside, and that students will be reunited with their teachers in the school building. As we have since last March, our staff deeply appreciates the efforts and partnership of our community and remains open to your feedback. Our doors remain open to assist your family.

As a reminder, the Fairfax County School Board will be meeting on January 5 to discuss return to school plans. Regardless of their decision, our bell schedule will be changing on January 12. Freedom Hill's bell times will be 9:45-4:15. Teachers will send their families an updated class schedule by the end of the week.

Looking forward to seeing you in 2021,

Nicholas Zapadka, Principal

Eric Kopacz, Asst. Principal

Positivity Project: Optimism

opt

Optimism means you expect the best from the future and work to achieve it. It represents a state of hopefulness and confidence about the future (both short and long term). People with this strength are future oriented. They have a positive vision of what the future holds and maintain confidence that they will get there. They keep a positive attitude despite setbacks – and often find ways to convert what seems like an obstacle into a stepping-stone to achieve their goals.
