There is no school from December 21st- January 1st.
Each year, the Office of Transportation Services reviews the bell schedules for all Fairfax County public schools and makes minor adjustments as necessary to improve on-time arrivals.
As you can imagine, developing this school year’s bell schedule has been extremely challenging due to the pandemic.
You may remember that new school bell schedules were announced in July. Our school’s bell schedule was changed. However, given the all-virtual start to the school year, there was no need to implement the new bell schedule.
At the School Board Work session on December 10, Superintendent Brabrand presented a revised phased- plan to return all students who have selected the in-person option starting in January, 2021. Staff worked to improve start times and end times for all levels.
Barring any changes to the plan that may be impacted by the pandemic, the following bell schedule will be in place effective January 12, 2021 for both virtual and in- person instruction.

We feel this plan is a significant improvement and less disruptive over what was presented in the original plan last summer.
The fifteen (15) minute reduction in the school day is due to the increased cleaning time required between bus runs. Additionally, as more students return to school, the number of students allowed on each bus will be reduced substantially to meet social distancing requirements. With fewer students able to ride a bus at the same time, FCPS has no choice but to adjust the times that our buses are transporting students.
We understand that changes may present a hardship to some of our families and staff. However, it is the only way we can return all our grade levels to in-person learning, while following the critical guidelines to help keep our students and staff safe.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Nicole Yacubovich, Principal

We know that the winter season can bring on added stress to our already emotionally taxed families. One way that Pine Spring helps to support students with their emotions is through Yoga for Classrooms. Over winter break, we would love to bring this calm to your home.
We are lucky enough to have two trained yoga teachers on our school team. Mrs. Terlop and Mrs. Strong. They have agreed to lead us in 2 yoga classes over winter break. Please consider taking some time to join us as a family by clicking here!

If CDC core health metrics and FCPS staffing metrics allow, students in groups 5-8 whose parents selected in-person instruction will begin to return to school for two days per week of in-person instruction and two days per week of virtual instruction after Winter Break.
When students return to school, our new bell schedule will be 9:00 AM-3:30 PM. The bell schedule will change on January 12th. The change is necessary to allow for social distancing on buses and provides time to sanitize buses between routes.
Kindergarten students whose families have chosen to have their students return to school in-person two days each week will tentatively return to school the week of January 11. Kindergarten students who will attend school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will return to school on January 12. Those who will attend school on Thursdays and Fridays will return to school on January 14.
Students in grades 1 and 2 whose families have chosen to have their students return to school in-person two days each week will tentatively return to school the week of January 18. Grade 1 and 2 students who will attend school on Tuesday and Wednesday will return to school on January 19, and those who attend school on Thursdays and Friday will return to school on January 21.
Students in grades 3 and 4 will tentatively return the week of January 25. They will attend school in-person on either Tuesday and Wednesday OR Thursday and Friday, as assigned.
Students in grades 5 and 6 will tentatively return the week of February 1. They will attend school in-person on either Tuesday and Wednesday OR Thursday and Friday, as assigned.
If you plan for your child to return to in-person instruction this year please email the Health Commitment Form to lebreeden@fcps.edu or drop it off at the front office between 9 AM to 3 PM. It can also be completed online through ParentVue. In-person families will not be mailed their new teacher assignment until this form is completed. This form is required before your child can enter the building.
