From The Principal
Family,
I can’t believe that we are at the Winter Break already. When we began this journey this year, I thought that this would be the longest year of my career. But just like most other years, the students and the teachers have made the difficult times not only bearable, but in many instances fun and more memorable than any other year. Students have persevered, teachers have found a way, and our Families have been the strongest supporters I have ever had a privilege to work with and for. It is without a doubt that without each other, this would have been a tough pill to swallow. So for all each of you has done to help create a special year, thank you.
As we depart from the building and the computers for the Winter Break, I am asking that staff and students do all they can to step away from the computers and to enjoy the break with Family and friends (safely). I want them to use this break to relax and recharge because we still have a hill to climb as there is still another half of a year to complete; and who knows what is still to come.
Before I bid thee farewell for the year, here are a couple business items.
Student Parking
The message below our driving eligible child has received. Unfortunately, due to restrictions in the form, only FCPS students are able to access the form.
Student Parking
Effective January 6, 2021 we will begin accepting Student parking applications for the 2020-2021 school year at no cost for ALL students with a current driver’s license. Please complete the online Google Parking Application Form using this link: https://forms.gle/EmFJq7XTSYHGMuuJ8. The form is time stamped and the information will be used to assign parking spaces on a first come first serve basis to include the first 129 spaces that have been designated as the “Senior Lot”. A current school year permit will be required before parking any vehicle on school grounds and also, to avoid any parking citations. Please note that students with outstanding school fines or fees, including library fines, may NOT obtain a parking permit until the fines have been resolved.
School Bell Schedule
The district has settled upon start and end times for the different school levels. The high school start and end times are 8:20am and 2:50pm. These new times will begin on January 12th. Regardless of whether or not the Return To School date is pushed back or not. The bell schedule will be as follows:
Period 1/2 – 8:20am – 9:40am
Period 3/4 – 9:50am – 11:10am
Period 5/6 – 11:20am – 1:20pm (lunches embedded)
Period 7/8 – 1:30pm – 2:50pm
Well that is all that I have right now. I will share more info about other Return To School stuff over the break (Yeah I know….. I’m not taking my own take a break advice). On behalf of the entire South County High School faculty and staff, I wish you a safe, warm, and restful Holiday Break. Share a hug with the Family for me and let them know that we will see them in the New Year! #OneStallion
