Scottie Tales for the week of December 7, 2020

A Note From Your Principal

Dear Bonnie Brae families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful break and special Thanksgiving. I know it was a very different holiday for many of us and I think it gave us an opportunity to focus on family and what we are grateful for. I know we are grateful for the community's support these past 8 1/2 months.

It is hard to believe it is December! In two short weeks we will be off for Winter Break. This will be another holiday that we will celebrate in a little different manner than we have before. As the pandemic rages on and seems to be gathering up more steam, please continue to take care of yourselves by practicing social distancing, washing your hands, and wearing your masks.

Due to the increase in the number of cases in the area, Dr. Brabrand sent out a communication to all families yesterday sharing that we will not be welcoming any new groups of students back to school in the month of December. The earliest new groups would come into the building is the second week of January. There will be a School Board work session on Thursday and we hope to have additional information at that time. As a reminder, we will need to make some teacher changes and adjust some students' in-person days as we phase into in-person learning. We do know that we will need to adjust our bell schedule and daily schedule in January. The new bell schedule that we will follow when we return will be from 10:05 AM - 4:50 PM. Please note this and make the necessary arrangements for your family.

As always, thank you for your patience and support as we go through these challenging times together. For all the latest on the health metrics driving Return to School decisions, please visit this link.

Thank you for your continued support, we will get through this with one another because of one another. We are a strong community and when strong communities face tough times they come out stronger.

Stay safe and take care of one another,

Jason

Bonnie Brae Gives Back

On Thursday, December 17, the Bonnie Brae staff is inviting the community to participate in our first of many Bonne Brae Give Back events. We are hosting a Toys for Tots Drive thru from 2-4PM. All online learning will conclude for the day at 2PM. We would like to see all of our students, who are able, to pick out a new and unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. They are in need of toys, to the tune of a 400% increase in requests for support this holiday season. It is time for the Scotties to step up! Pick up a toy, and swing by Bonnie Brae on the 17th between 2-4PM to help our community.
