Drug and Alcohol Series for Parents - from the Office of Student Safety and Wellness:

The Teenage Brain, Drug Trends, and Parent Tips 3 Part Series. Please join Elizabeth Knudson to learn about the teenage brain, the effect of drugs on the teenage brain, and current trends in substance abuse by teenagers. Strategies and tips for parents included in each part of the three-session series.  (Dates below).  All sessions will be conducted virtually, and links will be provided after RSVP is received.  Please RSVP to Elizabeth Knudson at eaknudson@fcps.edu.

WP Crew Team – Wreath Fundraiser at Hollin Hills Pool - Did you miss the pre-order window to order your wreath?  You’re in luck – the WP Crew Team wreath fundraiser continues.  Wreath purchases are available on weekends at the Hollin Hills pool until they run out.  Pay by credit card on your mobile phone and drive through for contactless purchase. The WP Crew Team does not receive any funding from Fairfax County.  Your support helps the team purchase, maintain and store equipment, participate in competitions, as well as support students and families who are unable to cover their dues.  For families who pre-ordered wreaths, please keep an eye out for an email with a separate date and location for pick up.

PTSA UPDATES:

PTSA Virtual Membership Meeting, December 7, 6:30-8pm, Zoom and Facebook Live:  Special Topics - Substance Abuse Prevention and West Potomac Construction Plan Update.  This Monday we will welcome West Potomac’s Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist, Elizabeth Knudson, who will talk about strategies and programs to help our families, especially during these crazy times and winter break approaching.  At 7:00pm the FCPS construction team managing West Potomac’s capacity enhancement/addition will give us a final plan overview.  Construction is expected to begin phasing by March 1, 2021. 

 

Congratulations to All A/B Honor Roll Students!  For the 1st Quarter 718 Wolverines achieved the All A/B Honor Roll.  220 of those students were randomly selected to receive gift cards from our All A/B Honor Roll raffle.  Thank you to our PTSA members and to Burke & Herbert Bank for helping to make the celebration possible.

NEW SELF-DIRECTED CLASSES OFFERED THIS YEAR ($125.00) -The test prep program is offering self-directed online test prep created by Applerouth. This is an excellent course that covers all the content offered through the usual group class as well as tips and strategies for the official tests. Mock test results provide a solid study guide. Applerouth tutors are available to assist self-directed students with any questions during the course. One mock test is included in the self-directed class. Class licenses expire 7/31/21. Register at PTSA's MemberHub Store.
