Dear Bren Mar Park families,
As you likely know, the health metrics in Fairfax County do not support the start to any new in-person instructional programs. This means that FECEP, Kindergarten, grades 1 and 2 will not be able to return to Bren Mar Park right now. We are looking forward to seeing your child back with us and hope that your family continues to stay healthy and well during this time! Fairfax County Public Schools continues to closely monitor health metrics, and we will keep you updated as new information is published. We appreciate your continued patience and support during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams
Principal
We remind families that there are a variety of resources available for you to use to support you in fixing technology issues that do not require you to make an appointment to come into the school. First, we have the technology support for families website available through FCPS which has video tutorials to help fix problems such as mics or cameras not working. Second, our School Based Technology Specialist, Mrs. Jess Russell, has put together a technology assistance flowchart that walks you through step-by-step guides. As you move through the flowchart, you will also communicate everything that you have already done so that our technology team can better support you should you need to make an appointment.

Counseling Spotlight
I am proud of our students’ hard work and resilient spirits. They amaze me with their insight during guidance lessons and small group. Our Social Emotional topics for grades 3 - 5 have shifted from identifying feelings and controlling emotions to the feeling of anxiety. Students are not alone in experiencing anxiety, and they don’t have to give in to those feelings. We talked about the importance of telling ourselves the truth when we are feeling anxious or fearful. For example, if your child is feeling anxious about a test or a performance, you can remind them that they have prepared, and they can relax knowing that.
And, we welcome our new counselor, Mrs. Dalrymple. She is leading the Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade lessons and small groups. She shares:
We continued with our theme of Social Emotional Learning and identify what different feelings look like and how we can recognize these feelings. By watching clips from the movie ”Inside Out”, students saw how people show feelings such as happiness, sadness, anger, disgust, and fear. We identified how these feelings are expressed in look on a person’s face or body. Students talked about the question “Why it is important to know how someone is feeling?”
Thank you for continuing to be a vital part of your child’s overall learning during this time. Please know that we are here to support you!
