Glasgow Community:

It was a busy week at Glasgow as we continue planning for more students’ return in January. We know that you will have many questions, and over the next weeks, we will start sharing important information to ensure you have clarity on your student’s return to school.

As you may have heard, Dr. Brabrand, FCPS’s student representative to the school board, and many families have shared that virtual learning can at times feel overwhelming for our students. To that end, one way we will provide additional support to our students and families is by making a slight shift in our approach to Mondays. Starting on Monday, November 30, we will no longer assign Monday asynchronous work and we will drop Monday FIT. We will still provide Office Hours and a check-in-based Panther Time, when teachers will continue to take attendance, check in with students, and help them get ready for the week. Our intent with this approach is that we will use Mondays to continue building community and connection and providing individualized support for our students while at the same time providing space for students to catch up on work from the week. Wednesday and Friday Panther Times and FITs will continue as usual. See below for our revised Monday schedule. Please reach out for questions you may have about this.

As we head into Thanksgiving Week, I want to express my appreciation. I am so proud to work alongside our incredible and dedicated staff, and I am grateful to serve our amazing Glasgow community. Thank you for all you do, and have a safe, healthy, and restful Thanksgiving.

Have a great week, Glasgow Community! As always, please reach out with questions or concerns.

Technology Support @Glasgow - We continue to encourage all families who are having issues with your Glasgow issued laptop to call the Parent/Student Tech Support Hotline at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).  The hotline is staffed 7 days a week from 7am to 11pm and multiple languages are available.  Alternatively, you can submit a support ticket online at https://itweb.fcps.edu/itsupport/.  If it is deemed that the problem cannot be fixed virtually, we will set up a time for you to come to Glasgow for a repair or exchange between the hours of 10am – 2pm, Monday through Friday.  If you show up outside of those hours or without an appointment, we cannot guarantee a tech will be able to service your laptop in a timely fashion.  Also, to keep the student laptops running well, encourage your child to “restart” the laptop at least once a week.  A restart is in the power options and is not the same as turning the laptop off, then turning it back on.  Restarts are vital in making sure the laptop receives and installs the most current updates to ensure optimal performance.
