Join Principal Marie Lemmon on December 2, 2020 for a virtual Return to School Parent Meeting to discuss updates from FCPS and Bailey's Upper Elementary School's plans for phasing students back into the building including classroom assignments, routines, and procedures to expect.
The meeting will be held in English at 6:00 pm and in Spanish at 7:00 pm.

FCPS Food services will provide Thanksgiving Meal Kits during a bulk distribution on Tuesday, November 24th from 8:00am to 12:30pm at Bailey's Upper Elementary School.
*There will not be a meal kit distribution on Wednesday, November 25th.*
Students have been working hard to earn virtual Tiger Paws for their class by showing strong digital citizenship in their online classes. This week at Bailey’s Upper we reached our next school wide goal of 40 Tiger Paws to earn our third spirit day of the year! We will celebrate Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday, November 24th. Students may participate by showing their favorite crazy hair style. Students may also show their school spirit by wearing Bailey’s Upper gear!

Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a Bailey’s Upper Elementary School Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through this Google Form Link. You may nominate one employee at our school or multiple employees (One individual may only nominate one employee per category.)
All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The google form link has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards and the eligibility requirements are below.
Outstanding Teacher
Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a teacher (in any school/school district); librarians are included in this category
Outstanding New Teacher
Eligibility: Has up to three years of experience as a teacher (in any school/school district); librarians are included in this category
Outstanding Principal
Eligibility: Has at least three years of experience as a building principal (in any school/school district)
Outstanding New Principal
Eligibility: Has up to three years of experience as a building principal (in any school/school district)
Outstanding Leader
Eligibility: At least one year of experience in their current position as a Schedule-C or School-Based Administrator scale employee (that is not the building principal):
Common positions in this category: Assistant and Associate Principals, Director of Student Activities, Director of Student Services
Outstanding Professional Employee
Eligibility: At least one year experience in current position as a Schedule-B employee or other non-instructional employee in a school that supports school leadership
Common positions in this category: School-Based Technology Specialist, Technology Support Specialist, Assessment Coach, Career Center Specialist, Instructional Coach, Psychologist, Social Worker, School Counselor, Safety and Security Specialist, Resource Teachers that serve in an administrative role in a school
Outstanding Operational Employee
Eligibility: At least one year of experience in current position as Schedule-A or Classroom Instructional Support Scale employee
Common positions in this category: Administrative and Office Staff, Safety and Security Assistant, Custodial Staff, Food Service Staff, IA, PHA, PHTA, All Parent Liaisons (regardless of how they are paid)
The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, November 20th.

For Both Bailey's Primary and Bailey's Upper
Bailey’s Primary and Bailey’s Upper Social Workers, Counselors, Parent Liaisons, and PTA joined forces and had a successful first day of distributing coats to over 70 families this past week! We will have our second Winter Coat Distribution scheduled tentatively for December 10th at Bailey's Primary.

Monday, November 23rd from 7:00-8:00pm we will have our Bailey's Upper Reading Specialist, Mary Iannicola, sharing tips on how to strengthen your child’s reading abilities as well as share some great books to read with your child. We look forward to “seeing” you at our next meeting!
Weekly Parent Conversations will occur virtually on Mondays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Topics will be announced the Friday before in News You Choose and will include technology tips, organizing workspace, stress management and more! Sessions will include a short presentation, small group conversations, and time for parents to ask questions. Drop in anytime during the sessions with your child’s computer and your questions!

Student - Parent Survey
Due to the virtual start of the school year, the Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid will be handled centrally this year. Pre-printed survey forms will be mailed to parents of specific students, likely the week of October 19th. Parents will be asked to return the survey in an enclosed postage-paid envelope by November 6th. The forms will be mailed back to Wilton Woods Center for processing by Information Technology (IT).
Parents will be provided an email address and phone number for questions. Please forward all parent inquiries about Impact Aid to IT using the following email address or phone number:
