Did You Know…Sandra M. Chafouleas, Ph.D. from Psychology Today writes “As a very unfamiliar holiday season approaches, we can still find ways to bring familiarity and predictability — and the sense of comfort that goes with that — with some adaptations to our family traditions.” Here is the full article that includes ways to adapt to this holiday season.

The FCPS Schoology team is looking for initial parent feedback on Schoology. Please submit your feedback here. More opportunities for parent feedback are being planned, and we will let you know when we know more.

Attention Class of 2024!! (Rain or Shine)

It's T-shirt time! We will be handing out t-shirts to the class of 2024 on Monday, November 23, 2020 between the hours of 8:00 – 3:30. Below are directions for signing up for this event:

  1. First sign up for a time slot. The times are divided into half hour increments. It is important that you arrive during the time frame you selected. Here is the link for the sign up genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054CA5AA22A2F49-class1
  2. Create a sign with your student’s name and the size t-shirt they ordered. You will show this to the staff when you pull up to the table. Students were emailed a few weeks ago asking their t-shirt size. We ordered extra so don’t worry if they did not fill out the form.
  3. When you arrive at Langley, enter the main entrance and turn left through the front lot in front of the school.
  4. The table will be on the side walk.
  5. Once it’s your turn, pull up to the table and hold up your sign.
  6. A staff member will give you a t-shirt while you remain in the car.
  7. Once completed, please exit the parking lot quickly as we don’t want to create a traffic jam on Georgetown Pike.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the 23rd!

Together We CAN Fight Hunger!

Calling all Cooper students and Langley Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors! Langley High School's PTSA is pleased to partner with our local food bank, Share of McLean, for its fall food drive. Food insecurity has increased in our community during the pandemic, and SHARE is supporting 50+ families in McLean with food supplies twice a week. Share what you CAN to help keep SHARE's shelves stocked!

On Monday, December 7th from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm in the LHS parking lot, Langley and Cooper students are invited to bring non-perishable, unexpired food items to their Class' designated drop-off station.  Click here to review requested items. In the spirit of giving, the LHS Class with the most participants and/or donated food items will receive recognition. Additionally, all Langley HS and Cooper MS participants can submit a selfie in front of the SHARE banner/truck and submit on x2vol for one hour of service learning. Masks are mandatory for all participants.

Parent and student volunteers are needed to help with this worthwhile event. Masks and gloves are required. Please click here to volunteer.

Langley High School's PTSA is pleased to invite your high school to participate in our upcoming free live webinar, "The Future of College Admissions," presented by Jeff Selingo, best-selling author, engaging speaker, and college admissions expert, on Tuesday, December 8, at 7 pm.

Mr. Selingo immersed himself in the world of college admissions for a year to answer a question on the minds of many high school students and parents alike: How do colleges select their freshman class? The result is his latest book, a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions

In his presentation, Mr. Selingo will dispel entrenched notions of how to compete and win at the college admissions game, reveal why families have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a “good college," and explain how the pandemic is impacting college admissions. The session will wrap up with a Q&A.

Please share this information with your high school community. Participants may register by clicking on this link: The Future of College Admissions. To submit questions for the webinar in advance, click here.
